By KellyO I have loved The McCallans series and have been waiting for Kellie's story. Oh my stars! It was well worth the wait. Veterans are very dear to Ms Quinn's heart and she does a wonderful job of sharing a bit of what our service men and women go through when they get home. This book touched me in so many ways. Kellie's insecurities about how she looks and finally seeing herself through the man who loves her's eyes, hit home.This is a love story with a very happy ever after!!

By Bethany What a GREAT look into the McCallans' family through Kellie's eyes! We get to see the drama, but there's a lot more explanation this time and, believe it or not, I think I have a soft spot for Max now. The direction this book took me was necessary for me to actually see past Max's rude exterior. I can NOT wait for his book!! But [THIS] book....Kellie and Tate, *sigh*.Kellie has a heart of gold that is thoroughly tucked behind her own safety wall, not to be messed with or hurt....ever. With the introduction of Tate, her little world gets a BIG jolt!! She's so rough and tough.....or so she thinks, but he slowly breaks down her walls and shows her unconditional love and acceptance for who she is. I loved Tate's character. He had such a great demeanor. So kind. So loving. So sweet. Kellie has some internal battles that she wages stemming from her upbringing, but she has a lot of support in Tate. I loved seeing him take care of her and her actually softening up. Being able to see Teague and Jay, along with their wives, was such a treat!!!! Jay is so protective, but I loved seeing the shift in him as he accepted that Tate was staying and was good for Kellie. Loved. It."Some battles are invisible to the outside world, but the people that silently fight them during tumultuous storms of uncertainty…are the stoic hearts that courageously prevail."Hadley Quinn's books always have an undertone of understanding and acceptance. There is always a lesson to be learned. Solid book and great storytelling. This book tugged on my heartstrings in many places....which is rare for me. Great job.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. So freaking good, exactly what I was hoping for. By Paris Hansen I’ve been waiting for Kellie’s book since the moment I picked up Kiss This. I needed to know her better, needed to know how she dealt with being a McCallan because it was obvious that it wasn’t easy. Kellie’s story was as heartbreaking and uplifting as I expected it to be. There are so many messages in this book that after reading it, I vowed to look at my life differently. I felt a huge connection to Kellie and her trials and tribulations. This book touched me and I am so thankful to Hadley Quinn for writing it.With that said, I cannot write a review of this book without talking about Tate. I never thought a man in this series would give Jay a run for his money. Jay is my man. I’ve loved him through four books now and I still love him over everyone else, but Tate…Tate is freaking amazing and a very close second in my McCallan series man love. He is perfect for Kellie. He has his own demons to overcome, but he really is exactly what she needed to help her move forward.I love this series, in fact, I have loved everything that Hadley Quinn writes. She gets so deep inside of her characters that it’s hard not to connect with them, to see part of yourself in them. I am really looking forward to Max’s book. He’s been such an interesting character throughout the series so far and I really loved the glimpse of him we saw in Maybe This. I cannot wait to see what is deep down inside Max McCallan.

About the Author Cathy Bryant writes Christian fiction set in the heart of Texas. In this Believe and Kn ow Bible study she, once again proves it with her down to earth, everyday-speak style of writing, that explains the scripture in a way we can all understand and apply to our individual lives. God has certainly gifted Cathy with a huge, humble, heart and a tremendous talent for words.In this study, she takes us back to the beginning by Identifying the Problem of earthly unbelief, a condition that affects so many people, pertinent, especially today. “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.” -Hebrews 11:6, ESV. She carries us through topics such as Truth. "...and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.". John 8:32 (NASB). By reminding us that each of us, good or bad, is born imprinted with a moral sense of right and wrong, she provides a very convincing argument for the existence of God. Where do those basic moral values come from, if not a higher power? Know your beliefs but unsure how to talk to others about your faith? Finding it difficult to live out your faith? Cathy Bryant has written this book with you in mind. What will you do with Jesus? Each person has to answer that question then live your life accordingly. This book will help walk you through and help you decide.I received a copy of this book and in return am giving an honest opinion.

The opinions expressed here are my own.Whether you are looking for a Bible study to help you guide others, or a Bible study to help you seek answers you may have, Cathy Bryant has provided that in this Bible study guide. She states that this book is for Truth-seekers and so it is. She also speaks to the two types of people who will read this book. The first is the type who believes first and just wants confirmation and the second is those who feel a need to understand before they can believe. Both will get out of this book what they put into it. It is my prayer that you spend time with this book and the scriptures. You may not yet know what you want out of this book. Read and pray and be assured God will open your eyes and show you what you need.Cathy has stated as has the scriptures that unbelief keeps us from a right relationship with God. In Mark chapter 9 verses 14-29 we read about Jesus’ disciples trying to cast the demon out of a young boy. When they could not the father was very frustrated. He came to Jesus who witnessed the demon possession of the boy and removed the demon. The father was confused by why his disciples could not deliver his son. It was because of their unbelief. When Jesus told him that belief was needed the father responded that he believed and then asked the most important thing ever, “help my unbelief.” We who are Christians are quick to say we believe, until hardships arise. Then we are quick to criticize and accuse God of ignoring us. Maybe the real issue is we are having difficulty believing and need to ask God to help us with our unbelief. After all we are human.Another thing that came out was in this quote found in the Kindle version section 15.3/82: “It is the same for our non-believing friends and loved ones. We must lay aside the holier-than-thou attitude that demands they believe like we do Instead we must love them unconditionally, pray for them persistently, and treat them with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15)”. How often do we act or talk down to non-Christians or those who have fallen away as if we are so much better and holier than they are? If you say, ‘I never have’ then you are lying to yourself. We’ve all done this. It is a big turn off and will push people away instead of bring them in.I recognize this in myself when recently I learned a very good friend of mine, with whom I’d shared a strong Christian friendship, had married. The problem for me with this was that she married another woman. I wanted to pray for her because I knew that this relationship was wrong. I could not simply because at that point I had the attitude that I didn’t understand (and I don’t) how this could have happened to a Christian. That wasn’t where my problem with prayer was. What came next was an issue with pride. I assumed it happened because I was a better Christian. Oh how God will slap us down when we become so holier-than-thou.Cathy also asks us to look for evidence of God’s supreme existence and more. Cathy talked about those who don’t believe in God. She made a valid point that if she is wrong then she’s no worse off for believing is something that didn’t exist whereas, the other way around, the non-believer proven wrong is doomed to spiritual death.I asked a very good Mormon friend who was raised Southern Baptist a question one day. She was talking with me about not believing in the rapture. She told me her parents prayed for her constantly because they felt she was wrong. I asked her what would happen if the rapture I believe in happened and she was left behind. Her response was that she would pray that she would live long enough to repent. I’ve heard the same thing from a Jewish friend whose daughter became a Christian. She believes we Christians have set up a very nice religion. I asked her the same question I’d asked my Mormon friend and her response was the same.I would encourage you to get and read this book. Study it. Use it to help you reach out to those who don’t know the Lord. If you are one of my followers who don’t believe in Christ then get and read this book to prove me wrong. This is what one of my Messianic Jewish friends did. He studied the Christian Bible to prove a friend wrong and found God in doing so.. I have recently added an “Inspirational” Genre to my classroom and will place a copy of this on my school shelves for those who wish to delve deeper into their beliefs. I will highly recommend this book to everyone I meet

I wish these were longer books, I feel as if I'm sucked into the story so fast, thenspat out again... I'm left wanting more of each characters story. Fall of the Alpha is just as enchanting as the previous stories in the "Sexy BBW Pagan Holidays" series... which needs to be read in order to get the full effect of the story.Delia is chosen as the embodiment of Persephone & offered to the Wolf-God as his 6 month long sacrifice. Meeting fire with fire, Delia decends into the Underworld to meet the Wolf- God himself....How quickly I can devour these novellas from Liv... they tempt me until I give in & have to read them. I can't wait to read what other Pagan Holidays Liv can re-create.

In this one, we find Delia being offered to the Wolf God, Amarok, in exchange for a peaceful winter for the "land above". As Delia's journey into the depths of the wolf's den deep underground progresses, she finds herself in the God's chambers. You will have to read to find out what happens, but I can tell you you won't be disappointed you did. This is the fourth in the series, but each book is a standalone. Well written with an excellent plot that is easy to follow, yet an awesome use of imagination. Looking forward to the next instalment.

There is no two ways about it. The stories have a pagan story line, but I totally love the tender elements added to the characters. Liv has totally given the stories a life of their own, I can't wait to see where the next one goes. Although the ending was awesome, I hope this particular line continues. :) I think its my fave.

This book is not at all what I thought it would be about --- it is so much more. Initially, I thought it would be another book about the life of St. Francis which, of late, I've been quite taken with. This book, though, has more to do with how we can make our faith real --- how we can really respond --- in light of a needy world around us. This is just what the doctor ordered. I say this reluctantly, but reading a chapter is almost better than going to church. I close this book at night with the understanding that I've got to get out there and DO something; I feel like I CAN make some small difference in this world, and that means so much to me. I'm at that point where I WANT to change, WANT to make sacrifices, WANT to be conformed to what God wants me to be. I want desperately not to be an 'average' Christian who longs for the same dusty, lifeless, rusting things the world does. This book reminds me that Francis, in his life, was not afraid to give up personal comfort and familiarity. When he finally overcame the greatest personal obstacle for him --- learning to love the leper -- he was freed from within, freed from that nasty monster that can entangle so many of us. Reflecting on his unique experience, I am compelled to look at my own prejudices, those things about people that keep me from loving them completely. I can't remember the last time a church sermon so compelled me. I highly recommend this book, and encourage you to grow in ways far outside the box.

There are reflection questions at the end of each section and an invitation to share stories. I recommend this book for personal and group reflection.

During the winter of 1888 the Vicar of the Chaldean Patriarch at Môsul (Nineveh) was so kind as to shew me some of the Syriac manuscripts in his possession, and among them was a thick oblong quarto volume containing the Lives of the Holy Men by Palladius and St. Jerome. I was familiar with the Syriac MSS. of the Paradise of Palladius in the British Museum, but I had never before seen so lengthy a copy of the work. The manuscript was old, that is to say, it was written probably in the thirteenth or fourteenth century, and as it was impossible to buy the volume, it being Church property, I asked permission to have a copy of it made.

Dlott Excellent novelization of the reign of Mary, Queen of Scots! I very much enjoyed reading this account of the early years of Mary, Queen of Scots', reign. I know enough history to understand the author's portrayal of Mary as more French than Scot. Unlike the first reviewer, I understand her desire and enrapturement with Bothwell. It is unfortunate for Mary's desire to become an ethereal, romantic, heroic, and tragic figure that even those who deposed and imprisoned her could not bear to kill her. Unlike her cousin, Elizabeth, Mary was unable to suppress her sexuality. Because of her long life and education in France, Mary was well prepared to marry the sickly Dauphin (French Prince & heir apparent) but ill-prepared to live in Protestant Calvinist Scotland. Ms. Bowen captures Mary's desire to live fully and how that offends Calvinist Scots. I read it all the way through - poor Mary! Deceived and deceiving, she tries again and again to achieve happiness, power, and the unlikely goal of Catholicism in Scotland!

I really wanted to know about queen Mary's life when she arrived in Scotland and Marjorie Bowen has certainly done this.The story follows historical fact and at the same time making the characters real to me. I had just read a book about Katherine Howard that I couldn't finish because of the language, when I started reading this book I gave a huge sigh of relief as the words flowed beautifully. Can't wait for another book by this author in the same time period.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. A Fascinating Story About The Queen of Scots! By Lauralee The Queen’s Caprice tells of Mary, Queen of Scots, rule in Scotland. She is beautiful and loved by the men around her. However, with her marriage to Henry Stuart and favoring an Italian dwarf named David, she loses the nobles’ favor and treachery and danger abounds. Mary must fight to keep control of Scotland as the nobles try to take away her power. Mary is a tragic figure. She is a weak ruler. She chooses the wrong men, who want nothing but to have Scotland for themselves. She is easily influenced by her ambitious brother James Moray, who wants control. She has a turbulent marriage with Henry Stuart, who she is infatuated with and eventually shows his true colors as a jealous, ambitious, spoiled brat that doesn’t love her but wants her throne. She is also lonely, which is why she turns her attention and favours the Italian dwarf, because he is smart and humors her. When she finds that trouble is admist, and powerless, she fights to keep her right to the throne. Still she does not succeed. Overall, this is a fascinating story about the tragic events of Queen Mary’s rule in Scotland. While Queen Mary is not likeable, I still found her story interesting. She strives to find love and happiness but sadly does not find it. Yet this story is filled with political intrigue, drama, treachery, and betrayal. This book reads like a soap opera, and is filled with fast-paced action. The Queen’s Caprice will appeal to anyone interested in Mary, Queen of Scots, The Elizabethan Era, and The Tudors. It will also appeal to fans of Margaret George, Jean Plaidy, and Philippa Gregory.(Note: I read an ARC copy of this book in courtesy of Netgalley.)

It has the 10 steps written in easily-understood language that the layman can understand. Patients and their families often have trouble understanding or remembering all the things a doctor tells them, and are overwhelmed by all the information they get. I highly recommend this book.

Talk about a great second book in this series!!I have been seriously stalking my kindle until this book arrived; I just had to know what was going to happen next. Sure they had a hot and heavy make out session until Kate pushed Asher away, but now that they would be partners in business, how will they handle all that sexual tension.Well, Lila delivers all that and more. This time around we see how Asher and Kate are handling their somewhat friendship amist all the little details of opening a business. At times Asher is sexy and flirtatious and other times, he distant and short. Kate is working day and night, not only with the products for the store but also Lacey's trousseau. Kate is still attracted to Asher, but fights it with everything she's got. They're business partners and she doesn't want to risk it or her dream. Asher is doing everything he can to help realize Kate's dream but there is something off, something he's not saying.The sexual tension between them is so passionate it melts off the pages. All the flirting leaves the reader panting for more. And when they finally decide to take it to the next level... it's a three alarm fire! Seriously had to stop and take a minute to regulate my breathing. However, just when things get heated, some truth comes to light that destroys their budding relationship.Seriously, Lila is an amazing writer. This second book is sensational. By Ishabelle Manalo I received an ARC of this book from Give Me Books in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book's release day promotions.Okay, so I hate cliffies. That's why I try to stay away from serials. This installment, however, is the best cliffhanger there could be. It got me excited for the next book, but it did not disappoint me with this book as well.I like Kate. I like heroines who know what they want and go after it. Asher was also a likeable guy, except for what was revealed at the book's ending. I can't wait for the next installment. I want to know how Kate and Asher will bounce back from that revelation.Honestly, when I first started this serial, I didn't think I'd enjoy it much. I was wrong. I found myself being hooked into the story. So much so that I can barely wait for the next story.

He even pushes to have the store open earlier than Kate thought possible. Of course, Asher is still Asher in his cocky ways ;) *He just couldn't help turning on the playboy routine the second he saw a skirt. It was maybe a little more irritating because I wouldn't have minded him taking me up on my offer.* Kate does extremely well resisting Asher. She has her eyes on the prize. Her business. So no naughtiness will happen between her and Asher... I guess we will see ;) lol. But Kate does notice a change in Asher. He is more tired and he definitely has mood swings. What's going on in his head?In this volume, I was torn between loving and hating Asher. Why you might ask? Well.... in one instance, Asher would be unbelievably adorable and compassionate. And then in the next, he is a total a-hole -_- He is making all sorts of decisions without Kate and moving deadlines! But to Kate's credit, she takes it in her stride and refuses to let anything faze her. She is a determined woman and won't let anything stop her. At one point, you think you'll learn why Asher is having these mood swings but each time, there's an interruption. And Brody, a friend of Asher's... he keeps showing up. What is he up to???There are some funny and hot moments between Asher and Kate. My favourite happening on a boat ;) *So I did the only conceivable thing I could do to save us both from our impending terrible decision and the impacts on our business. I pushed him into the ocean.* LOL. Kate is classic! And once again, I love her relationship with Lacey. Those two ladies are a riot! :) The ending will have you holding your breath! I was shocked but I should have known something wasn't quite right! But what will happen now? How will it all end? Will Kate get everything that she hopes and dreams for? I need the next volume!!!

Excellent new training categorization done by fiber types. USRPT people need to read this book so they realize the importance of traditional training mixed with a variety of speeds and intensities and why race pace training by itself is insufficient.

By Dana Busenbark This is a shorter book, giving us insight into Vaughn, whom we met in Book #2, Bad Blood. This book leans more towards the dark side of humanity, and how X came to do his job for Vaughn, and why Vaughn became "The Hangman." Lorelei Lansford is a bright and shining star in this book. Seeing Vaughn as his was 'before' Bad Blood and X's contacting him was very enlightening and what happened to Lorelei you can only imagine what it did to Vaughn to make him who we saw in Bad Blood. This is not a book for anyone under 18 to read due to the violence, language, and topics that it deals with. Because if there are nail them all here.WARNING: These are stories about pain and retribution. Some do not have a happy ending. There is strong language, brutal sex scenes and extreme violence. It is not intended for those of a delicate and prudish disposition. The Royal Blood Series is a dark and dangerous place. You have been warned. If you do NOT like graphic descriptions do NOT read this book and certainly don’t review it. The author gives you a warning and nothing ticks me off more is when you have been warned and reviewers STILL dive in and then bash the book.Moving on … If I could rate this series higher than 5 stars it would be whatever that star is read for me. I now have an unhealthy addiction to dark, brutal, dirty reads thanks to Ms. Cross and a few other authors who have passed through my kindle recently. You know who you are! There is serious something wrong with these writers and even more so with me as I am panting for MORE.The characters in the series are wicked. You have Xavier, Mercy, Vaughn, and Hawkes. Skyes, the Royal Blood & Necromancer MC, Weiss and Monsieur Lafayette (whom you only hear his name a few times which makes me pray and wish on the stars that this series will continue with the likes of his antics.) Remember I am reviewing the entire series thus far so stay with me.Royal Blood is our first book. Mercy Reid is running. She wants revenge. Not the sweet innocent kind but the kind with blood. The violent kind. Mercy Reid is not who she says she is but she’s on her way to becoming her leaving who she was far behind. She is searching for answers after coming home to a blood bath. Everyone dead .. and not only dead shot point blank through the head. Mercy knew her brother was into bad dealings and that is why she didn’t come home for four long years and the day she decides to come back her identity and her entire self will forever change.Xavier or “X” is a hit man. Not your ordinary hit man either. This is the most brutal and messed up character I have ever read in a book with the exception of one other. He is aggressive, he is brutal, he is torturous and almost vile. AND DANG I LOVED HIM. Mercy Reid has opened the gates of hell for him that included an invitation of being aroused using pain and force. She is playing a dangerous game with him. A game she refuses to relent.This isn't your typical love story, or your typical broken guy and girl story with a happy ending. This is much more. This is something like I have NEVER had the privilege of reading. We are talking extreme sexual situations, graphic murder and not just murder, torture. X and Mercy are engulfed in darkness. But each of them knows what they must do. X needs to find his next target and get the job done to find his freedom from being owned by the MC’s and Mercy needs her revenge; her revenge that puts a bullet straight through her families murderer; right between the eyes – only then will she have redemption.Bad Blood is is the continuation of Royal Blood. Bad Blood is even darker than the first.Each has a chosen path before they met, (Check the Book 1) these roads lead to something unexpected for both. We dive into what happened to X and who made him the monster he is now. He wasn’t born this way of course but he was conditioned, tortured and broken. His body tells the story and shows the pain that was put on him. On the physical side; I cant even put it into words. Emotions are written into each scene but they aren’t filled with hearts and flowers yet they aren’t anything I found horrific. It was more healing in a very disturbing way. Mercy and X are on the road to redemption. Vaughn has agreed to give them what they need but for a price. Skyes has taken something very important away from him. He wants this man dead just like X and Mercy. X will kill to give Mercy what she wants. And so he does. Bad Blood takes us further into the “relationship” between X and Mercy along with Mercy’s redemption and revenge. We also find out what Vaughn has to do with all of this and his interest in Skyes being taken out as well. Hawkes is present in this story as well. He is one bad man and is Vaughn’s best friend and protection. However after with Skyes did to Vaughn he doesn’t need Hawkes’ protection.. the world needs protection from The Hangman.This book is an explosive charge of rage, torture, seduction and a very dark landscape scrolling through the pages. And yes, it made me want more.Moving forward to Blood Rites; this book says its 2.5 in this series but believe me when I say that there is no “half” of anything in this installment. It is a full on assault once again of brutality with romance. Again let me warn you that if you are unsure about this type of genre then DO NOT click it -- warning – this is not a pink fluffy novel. This one slams your will to continue reading into overdrive. This book takes you places that are not pleasant but in this story are vital and it does so with absolute conviction. Blood Rites gives us the back story of Vaughan and what makes him who he is. It details what went wrong in his dealing with Skyes and moved him on in his life that has resulted in him being the man he is today and as we are ready know his character, this man is difficult to get a handle on.Vaughn was a decent sort of person; maybe prior to the events that took place. He is dashing, a billionaire and looks like your average billionaire in the daylight; but when the day turns to night he becomes just the same as X. A killer. There is much more that I cant tell you. You must read the book to understand why Vaughn becomes who he is in Bad Blood. It will completely make you lose your mind. Blood Rites is the story of the decisions that are maked and the repercussions that those decisions have for not only him but those around him. Lorelei will change his life forever.Sykes is a vile character. He has no regard for the sanctity of life. Vaughan’s dealings with Sykes are the reason for his loss.Lorelei’s character and undoing will gut you. Her thoughts at the end of the book will tear you apart. Beware. Its not pretty and the boom just like that its over and you are yelling WTF just happened.Just like that .. I want more dark, I want more twisted and I need it now. Where is the next book Amity!? Take me to the depths … its oh so good!

Klaire's Kollection Recommends By Klaire's Kollection Gifted for an honest review – 4 ½ starsWe were introduced to Sebastian Vaughn in Royal Blood #2, just enough to whet the appetite and wonder exactly what that grudge he has with Sykes is. I went into this knowing that there was no HEA for this particular man so if you’re looking for that then this is not for you. I’m a diehard fan of Amity Cross and when this was announced I was over the moon to be getting the back story to Vaughn, I think it’s one that really did need its own little novella to fill in the blanks. It would have consumed too much of X and Mercy’s story and detail would have been lost in amongst their story.So in true Amity style, she brings us this novella with much gusto…yeah, there’s an insta love but those I don’t mind especially coming from the pen of this lady. Vaughn is your rich bad boy with a double life; Lorelei is from money but has none of the haughtiness and entitlement mostly associated with this type of character. The time span in this novella is short, however these two characters explode when meeting each other and Amity paints a rich picture of their two worlds colliding. I have to say I preferred Vaughn as an unknown, I think it made him more dangerous, enigmatic (????) but it was utterly captivating watching this story play out and seeing the consequences of certain actions. It also serves to remind us Royal Blood fans exactly how ruthless Sykes is. I loved the brief appearances of X and The Watchman. I have a feeling that The Watchman will be a defining role in the next Royal Blood book and it was good to get a little bit of an insight to his “job” and why he’s so revered.Whilst you will get lost in this story about Vaughn and Lorelei I think that you get left with mixed feelings. Don’t get me wrong, I like Vaughn but I do wonder if his intentions to help X are correct or if he harbours a little bit of animosity for X not helping when asked. We shall see.Great little novella for which I have awarded 4 ½ stars for. For me there felt like a little was missing from when Lorelei was taken. I needed more details than Amity gave I think. I know….gruesome as that sounds, it was the only part that I kind of felt lacking. Moving on, it will be interesting to see how much more of a part he plays within the next book. Again Amity, another fab ride!
