She has become materialistic over the years and doesn't help people any more. She is irritated when her brother Michael asks her to take on a special case, Drew.Drew was hit by Evan's (Cupid's) arrow in Happily Evan After. When he doesn't get Becca, he is completely devastated. After all, Cupid's arrow is powerful mojo. Can Amity help Drew overcome his depression without revealing she is an angel? Without falling for Drew?If you are looking for a well-written, enjoyable romance look no further. This story grabbed my attention and never let go. Drew and Amity are troubled souls who help each other grow and heal. Both are likable and deserve their HEA.I would like to see a third book in this series involving Cathy from Book 1. Don't know if that will happen but I would definitely read it.

HE IS SHERIFF SHE BECAME A NURSE THEY WERE OLD FRIENDS NOW THEY MEET AGAIN By Dorothy Hendrickson Luke is sheriff in the town she grew up in, now she is back after four years. She went east to become a nurse, she is now moving to the ranch to take care of Louise Dunbar. The boys she used to torment Luke, Jackson and Gave have grown into handsome men. Jackson is a doctor and he wanted Amber to take care of their mom. Luke always had a soft spot in his heart for Amber and hopes to win her over now that she is back in his life. I think you will enjoy this story.

All types: technique, history, fundamentals, etc. You could say I was reading my dream, not "acting" my dream. I wanted to be a working actor. It got to a point where I was reading so much about the art and craft of acting, that I was "paralyzed." I didn't believe I could really be an actor...especially at the age of 42! Deep down I didn't think I could do it. This book changed my mindset completely! It gave me the kick-in-the-butt I needed. Ms. Bild's words gave me the confidence to "get off the fence." I now earn a livng as an actor. And most of all, I am the happiest I've ever been!Her advice on technique, styles, etc, are O.K. There are hundreds of books on those topics. But there are not many books that can change the mental block that may be holding you back from pursuing, achieving and living your dream. I loved this book!!

She is not an actress, but the thinking and metaphysical, but practical, approach illustrated in this book would benefit an actress and almost anyone in any professional area. It would at least assist toward experiencing a great life!Celebrate the "fabulosity" of this book as Ms. Bild encourages those interested in acting (and others) to celebrate the "fabulosity of life" plus the creativity available to us all.

While I found the first few pages slow to read, I was not disappointed when Delilah left her home at the insistence of her father, accompanied by six British soldiers and an Indian guide. Their mission was to deliver her to Commander Yates, whom she had never met, as she had not found a prominent suitor and had no intention of seeking out a husband. She had no way of knowing the deal her father struck with Commander Yates involved more than surrendering his daughter to Yates to be his bride.It was a time of war. Some of the Indian tribes sided with the French, while others sided with the British. The Indian guild, Two Crows, called the shots. Delilah was his bounty and he was determined to deliver her safely and collect his reward. Traveling on horseback would have been far too risky, so they set out on foot to make the four day journey--a journey Delilah never wanted to make. At first glance, it might appear that she was ill equipped to make such a journey, especially dressed in a gown suitable for a ball but definitely not the four days that lie ahead of her.The twist and turns of the journey keep the reader turning pages. Will Delilah survive? To what extent will the Indian guild go to collect his bounty? No spoilers from me; enjoy the read.

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Delilah and Two Crows - a perfect match By Cora Zane Delilah's "unladylike" behavior has annoyed her father and stepmother for the last time. Without any previous warning, she is being sent to Fort Edward to marry a man she has never met, a man she doesn't want to spend the rest of her life with. Delilah is just the right blend of plucky and sensitive, and I couldn't put the book down. I had to find out what was going to happen to her next. She is the perfect match for Two Crows, and you can feel the attraction between these two right away. I highly recommend Bounty. It kept me up late into the night turning the pages.

A Profound Treatment of a Vast Subject By Reddit Andrews,III Though Owen is in no sense an easy read, here is a work with a profundity that makes any amount of struggle well worth the effort. One senses, in the author a deep personal spirituality and an intense devotion to his subject. Though the work is several hundred years old it anticipates much of the modern discussion and no important issue is skirted. Owen provides a deep and finely nuanced treatment of Christ for the advanced reader. The title well captures the content of this book.

Renew yourself with a fresh view of the Glory of Christ By In Process John 17:24 "Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.I benefited from this work from the great Puritan writer. Owen's premise is that we don't have to wait until heaven, but we have the privilege of beholding Christ's glory now (pg 16) We walk here by faith and not by sight (2 Cor 5:7). Now it is by faith, then it will be by sight. I have chosen to divide it this way:A. Our Walk by Faith- We have been born in darkness and, if we have been justified by faith in Christ and His work, we have been translated into light (pg 29) Only by experiencing this glory now [of the gospel], can we have a correct conception of the future glory (pg 19)- Now it is beginning of glory (Col 1:12) which prepares us for the fullness of glory thereafter (pg20)- We don't need supposed visions of seeing Christ's glory now, we HAVE THE WORD OF GOD (pg 116)- The essence of faith is "due ascription of glory to God" (Rom 4:20). We have been given faith to "enable us to behold the glory of God in Christ" (2 Cor 4:3,4)- "Faith is the light wherein we behold the glory of Christ in this world." (pg 101)- Sanctification: we must understand that the great "means of sanctification" is beholding the glory Christ (pg 28)- we are not to simply follow Christ's example...."But no man shall ever be `like unto him' by bare imitation of his actions without that view of intuition of His glory which alone is accompanied with a transforming power to change them into the same image" (pg 29)- Assurance: "No man can have the least ground of assurance that he has seen Christ and His glory by faith, without some effects of it changing him into His likeness." (pg 119)- Believers should practice "stirring ourselves with diligence in acting of faith" toward the blessed object of Christ. (pg 30)-How do we do this? 1. Reckon our minds. "Orient your mind to the most noble thought." (pg 37) 2. Study Bible (pg 38). 3. Be free and mortify earthly affections and sensual inclinations. (pg 40) 4. Quickly turn with speedy address onto Christ (pg 40). 5. Adore Him with all "faculties of the soul." (pg 42)- Are you spiritually cold? Renew yourself in "obtaining a fresh view of the glory of Christ by faith, and a steady abiding therein. Constant contemplation of Christ and His glory, putting forth its transforming power unto the revival of all grace." (pg 105) [through His word]- we depend on His continual communication of His glory in His person and office (pg 80-81)- In faith, we can behold Christ in His glory:- Consider the glory of Christ: "...what He is, What He was in outward state and condition, what He did and suffered, what He is exalted unto - his love and condescension, his mystical union with the church, and the communication of Himself unto it, with the recapitulation of all things in Him - and the glory of God, even the Father in His wisdom, righteousness, grace, love, goodness, power, shining forth eternally in Him, in what He is, has done and does..." (pg 117)B. Our Destination by Sight- the BEAUTIFICAL VISION = the enjoyment of God by sight in His "infinite perfections" (pg 20)- we shall ever be with the Lord! (1 Thes 4:17, Phil 1:23) We shall behold His glory (John 17:24) and by "seeing Him as He is we shall be made like Him (1 John 3:2). It will be absolutely transforming (pg 117)- "One pure act of spiritual sight in discerning the glory of Christ - one pure act of love in cleaving unto God - will bring in more blessedness and satisfaction into our minds than in this world we are capable of." (pg 94) It will result in "everlasting refreshment and joy to our souls." (pg 97) "Beholding of Him shall be always satisfying unto us." (pg 113)- Our enablement to behold Christ with new faculties will be invariable and without interruption in the enjoyment of it (pg 114)- Beholding the glory of Christ throughout all eternity will NOT be boring:"The excellencies of infinite wisdom, love and power therein will be continually before us. And all the glories of the person of Christ which we have before weakly and faintly inquired into, will be in our sight forevermore." (pg 93)[Long but encouraging quote] "And this is the true cause that there neither is nor can be any satiety or weariness in heaven in the eternal contemplation of the same glory. For not only the Object of our sight is absolutely infinite, which can never be searched to the bottom, yea, is perpetually new to a finite understanding; but our subjective blessedness consisting in continual fresh communications from the infinite fullness of the divine nature, received through vision, is always new, and always will be so to eternity. So shall all the saints of God drink of the rivers of pleasure that are at His right hand, be satisfied with His likeness, and refresh themselves in the eternal springs of life, light, and joy forevermore." (p120)C. Versus the state of unbelievers- they have no guide or light. They only have their reason and imaginations (Pg 24)- they drink from the "corrupt fountain of the ignorance of God" (they are culpable for their unbelief) (pg 24-25)- Illustration: they are link bats and owls who "being not able to bear the light of the sun, retake themselves unto the twilight, to the dawnings of light and darkness." (pg 24)- "what can they desire more what is farther needful unto the rest and composure of their souls, than at one view to behold God eternally well pleased in the declaration of His righteousness and the exercise of His mercy, in order unto their salvation?" (pg 76)

John Owen is not difficult to read...Don't settle for an abridged version, please. After you read 10-15 pages, you'll be used to the format. Plus, if he is a hard read for you, you'll only be testing and conditioning your mind by reading him ;that's just another benefit from reading older books! We're not talking about a different language here, it is still English. Read what he actually wrote, nothing less!

The author has gone through such a tragedy that is beyond imagination and yet gives so much hope and makes you realize that in God you can put your trust and He will see you through. All I can say is that this is a must read because it makes you realize what is important in your life. Thanks to the author for being brave enough to pour out the contents of her heart and in turn gives praise to God for seeing her through this time.

Inspirational - will impact your life By carolyn gallagher Even though this book contains a horrible real life tragedy, it is a testament to how one Christian mother was able push through and lean on her faith in God and come out on the other side more mature in her spiritual life. We don't know what God has in plan for our lives, but if we are quite and open to hear God, we can achieve herculean feats through HIM. What an inspirational book this is.I've met Amy, as we are members of the same congregation. She is a compassionate, humble Christian lady who is still traveling a spiritual course in her life. I'm anxious to see what God has in store for her - and for me.

The story opens with Nina being left at the alter. To add insult to injury while she is sitting in a car waiting to go home the church blows up. And still in the same day someone tries to drive her off the road. Why is this all happening to her?Bomb detective Sam Navarro is called to the scene of the latest bombing and ends up questioning the bride to be. Sam has his own problems from the past and really has no plans to ever share his life with someone else. Now he finds himself drawn to the witness and there is still the huge mystery as to how Nina fits into the puzzle of the recent bombing, and other murder attempts.The chemistry between these two people was great and Ms. Gerritsen shows her potential as a suspense novelist. You don't want to miss this one.

44 of 48 people found the following review helpful. Not up to par By Angela If you are attracted to Tess Gerritson's novels of medical suspense, then this book is not for you. It was written well before her newer releases like The Sinner, The Apprentice, Gravity, etc. While a good effort at combining the suspense of a woman on the run from a mad bomber, this novel falls flat of creating any emotional connection to the characters. The heroin, Nina, is being stalked by a bomber, after being left at the alter by her horrendous fiancée. You'd think she'd have a lot on her mind, yet she still finds time to fall for the bomb squad investigator assigned to protect her. The book goes on to detail her thinking as well as his in a pathetic tennis match of who loves who, who doesn't love who, whose too scared to love who, etc. Ultimately, at the end of the book where I would normally be turning pages awaiting the climax, I found myself not caring whether Nina did get out of the whole mess alright, and was frankly irritated by the whole romantic banter part of this book. Bottom line, if you like The Sinner, The Apprentice, Gravity, Bloodstream, etc stick to Gerritson's newer work and stay away from Keeper of the Bride.

Deservingly belongs to our keeper shelves By Desmond Chan It isn't difficult to see why Tess Gerritsen is such an accomplished writer of present medical thrillers including The Surgeon and The Apprentice. Her earlier foray into romance suspense distinguishes her as one of the few who churns out jugular action and gorgeous romance - and Keeper Of The Bride displays her punchy, knockout style within a laconic 250 pages.ER nurse Nina Cormier not only had her wedding plans bombed when her intended hooked up with another woman, and narrowly escaped a planned bombing. Was it a deliberate attempt on her life or one of the guests in her wedding? Why did the characteristics of the bombing point to the work of dead terrorist Spectre? Sam Narvarro, the Portland detective is determined to root out the perpetrator but passion gets in the way of his obligations. Danger arises when Nina and Sam is thrown together in the mad schemes of a vengeful bomber...Keeper of the Bride may have a cliche plot but maestro Gerritsen moves the story swiftly and gives her characters dimension with insecurities and sincerity. It is a mystery wrapped with treachery and cutting suspense right up to the explosive climax - and with Ms. Gerritsen's background as a physician, forensic evidence flows along to give credibility to the plot. This book deservingly belongs to our keeper shelves with her clean dissection of suspense and love.

Protect the health of your eyes -- and brain -- with foods that nourish them By Franziska Spritzler Disclosure: I was contacted by the author, who sent me a review copy of this book free of charge.The ability to see is something we usually take for granted until we start having problems. Loss of vision due to cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration becomes more common as we age, but eye problems can develop throughout the life cycle. I've had several eye disorders: bilateral strabismus ("lazy eye") requiring surgery when I was seven, medium myopia (nearsightedness) since around that age, and most recently presbyopia ("old eyes" -- farsightedness after the age of 40). I also have a strong family history of glaucoma, so doing whatever i can to preserve the sight I have is extremely important to me.Dr. Bruce Fife is a naturopath, certified nutritionist, and director of the Coconut Research Center. He's a prolific author, having written 20 books based on his extensive review of the literature on the benefits of coconut oil and its medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs). In his latest book, Stop Vision Loss Now!, he provides evidence that a well-balanced, nutrient-rich, very-low-carbohydrate diet supplemented with coconut oil may help to prevent and even reverse some of the most common eye disorders associated with aging.The major concept of the book is that the eyes are an extension of the brain, so whatever keeps the brain healthy and well nourished will do the same for the eyes. There's a growing body of research demonstrating that maintaining blood glucose and insulin levels as close to normal as possible can help preserve brain function and reduce the risk for Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. According to Dr. Fife, many researchers now believe that although increased intraocular pressure is involved in glaucoma, its primary cause is that nerve cells within the brain become damaged, similar to what happens in Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease. He explains that coconut oil increases brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a gene that stimulates the growth, maintenance, and repair of these nerve cells.. Dr. Fife suggests that the increase in ketone levels that occurs in response to MCT can protect eye health and improve or potentially reverse degenerative eye disorders as a result of increased BDNF. In addition to age-related conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy, coconut oil can also be used for dry eyes, eye infections, and other non-vision-limiting conditions.*In addition to generous amounts of healthy fats and moderate amounts of protein, Dr. Fife recommends including a wide variety of nonstarchy vegetables and berries to reduce oxidative stress that can lead to eye disease. He advises selecting from three different levels of carbohydrate intake based on blood glucose levels and provides a sample menu for a typical day, along with guidance on meal planning and dining out. Lists of protective low-carbohydrate foods and a comprehensive net carb counter are included. There are many personal accounts throughout the book, including the author's story of how he reversed his own early-stage glaucoma. Although there isn't a lot of published research on the benefits of coconut oil for eye disorders, he makes a great case for including it as part of a whole-foods-based, low-carbohydrate diet in Stop Vision Loss Now!*Regardless of whether these changes in diet and lifestyle improve your vision, if you have an eye disorder, you should continue to see your ophthalmologist at least once a year for monitoring.

Going blind is the second largest fear of the elderly, the first is death. So it is with that said that we should all care more about eye health. I know many elderly relatives who would be blind if it wasn't for modern medicine. Most had cataracts which caused near blindness.Reading Bruce Fife's new book on eye health gives you quite the education. This book presents the underlying reasons for various eye conditions. By reading this book and following the advice you can help to prevent degenerative problems that happen as we all age. You may have thought glaucoma was irreversible but this author says it isn't. He healed his glaucoma by eating coconut oil.I always learn a lot while reading a Bruce Fife book and this book is about a lot more than coconut oil. This book teaches you about a ketogenic diet. There is also some information on how coconut oil raises blood ketones. This book also promotes a low-carb diet. Although I think avoiding all sugars is near impossible in our modern age. I have tried to completely stop eating all sugars and have only somewhat succeeded. I can't see totally avoiding everything sweet on a long-term basis. Maybe some people can but they have stronger wills than mine. To me life without something sweet once in a while is not a life worth living.There is some information on fasting in this book but I'd highly recommend reading way more books on the subject before you try it. Fasting is not something you want to mess with if you don't have all the facts. You need specific instructions for how to go on and off fasts. So be cautious.So really this book is about preventing, stopping and reversing eye diseases. 10 of 11 people found the following review helpful. Five Stars for the Book; Two Stars for the Ketogenic Diet By Anthony S. Brezovski This is the first book by Dr. Fife that I completely read. "Stop Vision Loss Now!" contains some very useful insights that I now use. OTOH, it isn't perfect. While I use coconut oil every day, other aspects of his ketogenic diet leave me cold. I doubt if anybody anywhere follows a strict ketogenic lifestyle long-term, excepting maybe a castaway. In fairness to Dr. Fife, he does point out different aspects of a ketogenic lifestyle that many people *can* embrace and still reap a benefit.

About the Author Titus Pollard is an acclaimed Classical, Jazz & Gospel musician, author, educator, clinician, playwright, and actor. His breakout novel was Living Right on Wrong Street, and now with his current novel being Hell In The Choirstand, he is working a series of novellas and an upcoming Historic Christian novel. Pollard is personally responsible for having taught several artisans of contemporary music. Some of his former students have been in the employ of Dr. Bobby Jones, Maynard Ferguson, Kelly Price, The Clark Sisters, The O’Jays, and the Morehouse Glee Club. In addition to his writing, his most recent projects include an acting role as Rev. Cole in the film A Black Woman’s Guide to Getting Married (2008), his Gospel music CD Conversation with a Psalmist (2007), and the musical director of the stage play The Whole House (2008). He is probably best known for his world-renowned video instruction series Learn to Play Gospel Piano (1989).

The reality of "Hell in the Choirstand" By Monie The depth of the storyline was enhanced by the mix of factual and historical pieces that were interwoven into the storyline. At first I wasn't sure if I liked the history lesson that started this book off. However, that history piece ended up being the aspect that intrigued me and taught me the most about how demonic influence has made, at times, a subtle attempt, no make that a subtle success at messing with "true" gospel. And it was a "page-turner" once I got to Verse 3.This book was also a page turner because the characters were well developed which made them believable and gave them personality. The descriptive writing of this novel helped me to visualize (in my head) the "look" of the characters as I read. And having been in church a large part of my youth the characters were solid and were good representations of the type of people you would actually encounter in church.I can appreciate the touch of sensuality in the book and consider it a good expression of black "married" love (but excluding the Festival of the Lambs part).The overarching theme of how demonic forces work their way into today's church doesn't seem far fetched and the approach that the author chose makes me think and causes me to be more conscious of "things" both in church and in my daily life.The workings described of the Society of Tyrus don't seem far fetched and to me give a good explanation of how satan is able to slither his way into church services.Finally, the use of scripture to tie each "verse" with the next was a great use of scripture.

I have oft heard of secret societies with ulterior motives often evil! The ongoing battle of good and evil is fought between two church musicians. The battlefield for souls takes place at Ezekiel, a fast growing congregation that is expanding and growing! Jeremiah Day is a musician that finds himself at the Church through God's intervention and quickly takes helm of the music program while stepping on the toes of Renard who has been the Director for over a decade! Renard belongs to the secret Society of Tyrus which is a nationwide group of musicians who inject themselves into church musical programs in order to cause dissension, discord, confusion and chaos thorough the church's music! The chords used contain evil influence to destroy the Church! I started to think that this could in some bizarre way be possible! You have to read the book to find out who is victorious in the end! I would recommend this book to anyone who is a believer of Christ and seeks to find ways to triumph over evil in our houses of worship!

Not only I been in the Church most of my life but I also sang in the Choir, the characters were substantial and in good representations of the type of individuals that I will encounter in the Church. The overshadow theme about the forces of Satan work their way in disguise into the Church definitely is the absolute the truth that Titus Pollard is talking about in this book. This is something for me to think about and makes me to be more in the right mind both in my personal life and in the Church. The devil sit right next to us in the Church pews, singing in the Choir, on the Pulpit, on the deacon and trustee board in the purpose of destroying the Church through the Church Folks. Satan love to slither his way into our Church Services without us knowing it. I also love the way Titus Pollard presented the Word of God to each verse from the Holy Bible, with the next one was a genius idea in the purpose of minister to the readers.

About the Author St. Teresa of Avila was born in 1515 at Avila, Spain, and her mother Beatriz was determined to bring her up as a good Christian.
