By Amazon Customer Let me start by saying Gena Showalter is one of my favorite authors and it physically pains me to post a two star review. I will be discussing plot points and being a novella you will probably end up with the major gist of the whole book. So if you are one who seeks to avoid spoilers I suggest you stop reading now.The story begins with 18 year old Rose being dragged into another dimension also known as Nightmare. She is a Walker with the power to travel into this dimension. The power is triggered on her 18th birthday and she is forced to stay in this dimension for 12 hours. Unfortunately as a reader you are given no explanation about how or why Rose is a Walker. This "power" seems to serve no other purpose than to get her to the main love interest and provide a flimsy back story which I'll get to later. She then meets Vasili who proceeds to basically rufi Rose by unknowingly binding (aka drugging) her so that she can only get it on with him. When she returns to the real world she discovers she is unable to get sexy with anyone else without feeling unbearably sick.A whole year passes. The point of this is to basically make Rose less jail bait material to the 33 year old Vasili (I'm not really sure why the age thing was so important since she ends up practically having sex with him at 19/nearly 20 and I don't really see this age being any less/more scandalous than 18).At the second meeting between Rose and Vasili he basically beats the s*** out of her - nice.Another year passes with no contact between them. At this point Rose has spent a maximum of 24 hrs with Vasili. Having unwillingly and unknowingly ingested his blood at the first meeting she now thinks about him constantly to the point that she no longer functions productively in the human world (addict anyone?).The author attempts to romanticize the situation and we get Vasili's point of view in an effort to humanize him. During these chapters we also get the knowledge that he also suffers from self imposed celibacy. Note I used the word self imposed? He had a choice, Rose didn't.The book finally jumps the shark when at the third meeting Rose is inexplicably in love with the man that drugged her against her will and beat her up. She is now ready to throw her life/parents away to live in Nightmare with a man she has spent 24 hrs with in total. Not to mention that in those 24 hrs she was petrified, angry, confused and beaten. Sounds like a recipe for true love.As i mentioned above, the Walkers thing is used to create an unrealistic obstacle between the main characters. We find out Walkers historically intermarried with citizens of Nightmare then one day decided to turn on them and slaughter everyone including Vasili's family. Im not sure how a few humans could hope to eradicate a whole world but whatever - details. And what about all the children produced from the intermarrying? Conflict of interest anyone? There's also a side storyline of political alliances and possible romantic angst from one of Vasili's sidekicks but this is neither explained or further explored. At this point Rose doesn't really have a personality outside lusting for Vasili and getting irrationally jealous over nothing. The ending of the book does nothing to redeem her either.Sprinkled a few times throughout the book Rose meets other Walkers at the behest of Vasili. Most of them have been hunted down each time they travel to Nightmare and are understandably afraid and angry. Her solution? Teleport the few Walkers she has found through the internet into a room full of people who have spent decades killing them on sight. Once there declare everyone friends. The End.This was probably the most obvious example of lazy plot development and ridiculous leaps the author wanted to reader to accept as believable. All in all the writing seemed uncharacteristically amateur and left me feeling unfulfilled and dissatisfied. The story had promise but I feel the author did herself a disservice by giving us an insufficiently fleshed out story. It's an entertaining enough read but some of the plot points are unforgivable.I'm hoping the author gets back to the high quality and witty writing I have come to know and love.

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Another amazing read! By Jacqueline A Gonzales @laughing_panda1 Ever Night, By Gena ShowalterAmazing! This story captured me from page one. It has an original, refreshing, concept that left me amazed. Gena Showalter is a brilliant storyteller, with great plot formatting and character development. The tension she crafts had me on edge the whole way through. Readers will be drawn to the intricate world where darkness and light collide creating a gripping romance. The story begins with Rose Pascal. Seventeen going on eighteen, Rose has decided she will stay up late to wish-in her 18th birthday at the strike-of-midnight; however, things go horribly wrong, and instead, she finds that she has been transported to another dimension. Scared, and at the mercy of savage looking creatures— better known as Mostrea—she has no idea how anything she is seeing is even remotely possible, when but moments ago she was in her bedroom, safe and sound. Fearing what they will do with her, Rose is surprised when she is unceremoniously dumped into the tent of their very own King, Vasili.Vasili is arrogant and sure. Nothing gets past him. He knows what he wants, and he gets what he wants. For years, he and his people have grown to despise people like Rose. At first, he thinks she surely is a spy, but upon learning that the mouse-like girl has no idea of her gift, nor how it makes her different, his decision on her fate changes. Astonishingly still, is the fact that she is sharp witted. Something about her sparks a flame within him that he will not realize until later. Seeing his opportunity to bind her to him to possibly gain better knowledge of others like her in her other world, he performs a ceremony that binds them together.Rose is completely bewitched by Vasili. He is handsome, mysterious, and just a tad bit scary. At the end of their first meeting, he leaves her with more questions, than answers. What she does learn from him is that she is a dimension walker, and that she will cross over to his dimension on every one of her birthdays.Life grows increasingly complicated for Rose, once she returns back to her normal life. She tries to confide in her family, but she is seen as unstable, and she even looses her boyfriend over the consuming memory of Vasili. When she realizes she is unable to touch, or kiss, another man, she knows Vasili has done something to her. Finding that she wants to be better prepared for her next birthday, Rose learns how to fight, and researches people like herself. The second meeting between Rose and Vasili goes slightly better. Rose discovers the true extent to what Vasili did to her the first time they met, and why she is unable to touch another. However the game is soon to change their lives, and neither will soon be able to part.Vasili is in a complicated situation. He has no idea why he connected Rose to him. He should have killed her the first night they ever met. Yet, with every passing day, he finds that he wants her. With duty, and obligation, against him, he is scared what will become of Rose and the knowledge he has given her after their second meeting. There were a few things that I wished were a little more fleshed out. What is the purpose of the dimension walker? Why do they have such a talent, if to learn nothing, and do nothing with it? What else does the realm where Vasili live in have? What is the purpose of the constant darkness where he is at? Are there more dimensions? etc…I the only immediate fault with this work is that the ending seemed rushed, and too neatly folded—both uncharacteristic with Gena’s other works. It seemed far too simple for where the work went. Like, let’s-just-sweep-the-years of-animosity-and-hate-right-under-the-rug. No. Wrong. I am not sure if Gena was pressed for time, but usually her works really have you until the final sentence, on the final page. However, I still rated this book with 5 stars. Every other written aspect about it was flawless. Gena can write, and she is exceptional at creating long lasting stories for her readers to enjoy over and over.I really hope there is more to this wonderful world Gena Showalter created. A whole series could be based on this, and I would be so happy. I can not express how much I love her concept—which alone, should be commended. We shall see what is next for Gena Showalter.@laughing_panda1

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Reprint? By Psychmi I swear that I have read this book before. I went back and read the description again, and it doesn't mention it (at least on Amazon, and I haven't checked any of the others). It was just as I remembered. I would not have purchased it, had I known. It was a short story so it was difficult to develop the characters, but overall was a decent read. Her other books are much better, so if this is the first time you've read this authors work, read the "Lords of the Underworld" series--she will have you hooked!

EXCERPT

Alison saw a back door to one of the buildings in the alley and grabbed at it, twisting the knob and letting out a sob when it didn't budge. She looked for another door that was close by but didn't see any. Far down the alley she saw what could only be the back side of a restaurant with a large trash bin next to a pile of boxes. It was far but there was at least a door and there might be people inside. She was going to have to make a break for it. As she started to run the door next the garbage bin opened and a man in a stain covered apron came out, kicking the door wide with his foot because he was carrying several bags of trash in his hands. "Help me!" she screamed. She ran towards the man, crossing the alley and sprinting towards him. He turned to face her, his mouth open as he tried to understand why he was being yelled at. A dark shape dropped down over the man and Alison skidded to a stop. As he let out a yell the man was thrown to the ground and the bags of garbage spilled into the alley. The creature leaped on him and the back of his head was slammed into the cement with the weight. Alison saw the creature rise up to its haunches, sitting over the cook who was now knocked senseless. The creature was vaguely human, a muscular male who’s features blended from feline to man. Lean and naked except for a short layer of fur he looked at Alison, his pointed ears turning to take in every sound around him. Alison saw that a thick tail sliding from side to side behind him. He leaped from the cook and bounded directly to Alison, the moonlight flashing on its extended claws, reaching for her. Shrieking she turned to flee and immediately tumbled to the hard ground. She tried to regain her feet when a second creature dropped down directly in front of her. He was similar to the first but even larger, a lion-like mane of hair framing his face. His eyes focused on hers and she was shocked to see the slit pupils of a cat that seemed so out of place on the lean, half man body. His paw like hands gripped her shoulders and he slowly pulled her closer to him until she was face to face with it. She could hear him letting out a low growl and saw the lips pull back to reveal a row of pointed, sharp teeth. It was too much for Alison, she fainted in his arms like a rag doll, held up only by the monster's grip on her. He tossed her over his shoulder and leaped up to catch a window ledge before jumping again to a higher one. Alison's limp body dangled over his shoulder, swinging as he pulled himself to the rooftop. The first creature she had seen quickly joined him and they set a path back to the den.

The premise is great, the descriptions of the characters are interesting, but the writing is just okay. I won't give away any plot lines, but some of the action is more towards erotica than erotic romance. (Not sure which category Ms Amie was aiming for...)Overall, with a little better editing and plot development, this would be a four-star. As it is, I'll probably get book 2 just to see if the writing gets better. Ms. Amie, I will definitely keep an eye out on your writing, please don't stop writing!

I would probably call this dark monster erotica, rather than a shifter romance. Given that classification, it was pretty good. The humans had caught a cat man, and the rest of the pride rescued him. Then they took revenge -- there was non-consensual sex in this story.

Take hostage by creatures who look like cats. She fears she may never live to see daylight. Can't wait to read the next book.

The air had a crisp bite to it, clean and fresh, the scent of autumn. Above, the sky was cloudless, a pure Wyoming blue. Perfect training weather.Becca "Bex" Stuart flashed by another runner with a nod. The trail was busy on this Saturday morning. Mustang Creek had put in a series of municipal paths specifically for walking, biking and running, and the money had, in her opinion, been well spent. She sure took advantage of her tax dollars every chance she got.Just a light run. That was her goal this fine morning. Luckily, Bex had access, thanks to her business, to the finest athletic equipment available, so she could get an accurate time. The upcoming marathon was the usual 26.2 miles, and her strategy was to gradually work up to that. And then she'd begin tapering down. By next Saturday she should be ready. Her friends thought she was insane. From experience, because this wasn't her first endurance race, Bex knew they could be right. Mile nineteen was where you just wanted to chuck it all and quit, but if you got past it…you were home free. Her phone, clipped to her shorts, beeped.A text. She could read it as she ran; however, she couldn't answer, not without stopping, and she wasn't going to stop now.It was from one of her best friends, Melody, recently married, so now Mrs. Spencer Hogan.Meet us at the ranch for lunch? Hadleigh and I want to talk to you.It was, according to her high-tech pedometer, a manageable time frame as long as they meant around noon. She was able to type K without breaking stride. There was definitely a shower in her future before she sat down with other human beings to eat—as a favor to them. Despite the cool temperature, Bex was perspiring, as she should be, or she wasn't trying hard enough."Bex? Bex Stuart?"Male voice. Familiar. The sound jarred Bex out of her endorphin haze, brought the world around her back into focus. She'd just reached the second loop around Pioneer Park, and the place was filled with small, noisy kids celebrating life in general. The male voice belonged to Tate Calder, she saw with dismay, his two young sons among the crowd of children crawling all over the playground equipment.Tate looked, as usual, put together and handsome with his clean-cut features, wavy chestnut hair and dark eyes. He wore a leather jacket and nice jeans, while she was arrayed in the scruffiest outfit she owned—and, naturally, sweaty, as well.Great."Hi," she said. Not exactly brilliant, but polite at least. A little breathless, Bex ran in place, her body on autopilot. Keep that heart rate up.Not that it was a problem. Just looking at this man seemed to have an aerobic effect on her. She'd encountered Tate two or three times before, since he was a friend of Hadleigh's husband, Tripp, both men having flown for the same company as charter pilots back in the day, before Tripp decided it was time to sell the firm and come home to Mustang Creek.Tate's dark eyes were amused, missing nothing. "How've you been?""Good." Now there was a snappy answer. Yes, she was on a conversational roll, all right, a regular genius with words.Tate grinned. "You seem to be in a hurry, so I won't hold you up. Tripp tells me you're training for a marathon." A brief, measured pause. Meaning what? "Really?""Really," Bex replied. She managed a small smile, friendly enough, but wobbly. "Nice to see you," she said, trying to distance herself from him, still running. Still going nowhere fast. "What can I say? Guess I'm a glutton for punishment." Terrific. More snappy repartee. Annoyed with herself, she sprinted off, probably improving her time slightly, since she didn't particularly want him to remember her with a shiny face and a messy ponytail.Of all the luck.Make that bad luck.Tate was tempting as hell, no denying that, but Bex got the nearly subliminal impression that he was as wary of involvement as she was. His wife had died, and she'd lost Will in Afghanistan—it wasn't hard to do the psychological math.Thoughts in a muddle, Bex finished her run and headed for home. There, she took a hot shower, put on her favorite red sweater and black jeans and, perhaps as a nod to the cosmic forces that governed vanity, she spent a few extra minutes doing her hair and adding lip gloss.Satisfied that she looked okay, Bex left the house, got into her sporty SUV and, after making a brief stop downtown, zipped off to meet Mel and Hadleigh.Reaching the Galloway ranch minutes later, Bex felt a twinge, a bittersweet sensation somewhere in the back of her heart. Tucked among the looming mountains, crystalline streams and venerable trees, the house and barn and other outbuildings—even the fences and corrals—seemed to belong there, organic to the landscape itself.Tripp had taken over the place after his stepfather, Jim, long a widower, had finally remarried and moved into town. The house itself wasn't fancy, but it was spacious and solid and homey, with a welcoming air.Secretly, Bex had always wanted to live in the country. She loved her work, felt she was making a genuine contribution to people's health and all-around well-being by furthering the cause of fitness through her ever-expanding business. And, if not actually country, Mustang Creek was certainly no clamoring metropolis. There was something…nurturing about being out here, with all this unspoiled nature. Before she could even get out of the car, Mel and Hadleigh stepped onto the side porch, smiling and waving. Both her friends were pregnant, and both of them were more beautiful than ever.Bex felt a pang of affection, tinged, alas, with mild envy.Hadleigh was farther along than Melody, her baby bump more pronounced. She'd married first, and she and Tripp had been eager to start their family. All systems go.Melody, running a close second, was just starting to show, a bit rounder than usual, her loose shirt disguising her pregnancy. If you didn't know her, you'd never guess, but they'd all been friends since they were six years old, so Bex was attuned to every change. She was living this with them, sharing the experience in a way, and she couldn't have been more pleased by their obvious happiness. They really did glow. They knew Bex felt slightly left out—there wasn't much Melody and Hadleigh didn't know about her—and they not only understood, they were also convinced her turn at marital bliss and motherhood would come. Soon. When Bex's own hopes flagged, these two never failed to notice and offer encouragement. She was so lucky to have them in her life. That choked her up for a moment, brought the sting of tears to her eyes. Romantic flings, career highs, fun times—all those things came and went, but friendships like theirs were as permanent as bedrock. She paused, took a breath and squared her shoulders."I brought dessert," she announced cheerfully. "Don't kill me, but it's those puff pastries from Madeline's. You guys can't drink wine or coffee, so you need some sort of vice." She paused, chuckling. Some fitness guru she was, she thought wryly. "One pastry won't hurt." This was true enough, in her opinion. One pastry wouldn't do any harm. The problem arose when the rate of consumption ratcheted up to three or four tasty treats—or ten. Feeling cocky, she added, "Considering that I just ran eighteen miles, I can afford a reasonable level of indulgence."Motormouth, her inner moderator gibed."Give me that bag." Hadleigh grabbed for it as Bex came up the steps. "I'm having mine before lunch, so no lectures on nutrition, please. And if Tripp has the gall to say a word—he has the metabolism of a shark, the rat fink—I consider it your solemn duty as my friends to drop him in his tracks." Paper rustled as she peered inside the bag. Sniffed appreciatively. "Oh, dear heaven," she lamented happily, in a near moan, nudging Melody lightly with one elbow as she spoke, "it's the ones with lemon whipped cream.""Yep," Bex confirmed with a twinkle. Judging by the current reactions, if she hadn't surrendered the bag willingly, one or both of these watermelon smugglers would have tackled her for it.Melody, feigning greed, made a comical effort to snatch the fragrant sack from Hadleigh's hands, and Hadleigh, in turn, pretended to dodge the move."Hey, share and share alike," Melody said with a grin. "If you think you're going to snarf up my share right along with your own, sister, think again."Hadleigh laughed, still employing diversion tactics, an awkward endeavor under the circumstances, and Bex wondered if the third pastry, intended to be hers, would survive this good-natured tussle.Hadleigh correctly read Bex's expression. Yes, she was fit and yes, she ran a fitness empire, but she loved Madeline's lemon-cream dreams as much as anybody did. "You can drink wine," Hadleigh continued, cheerfully accusatory. "We can't. Coffee?" She waved one hand in a dismissive gesture while holding the pastry bag just out of Melody's reach with the other. "Gone. A distant memory."Bex had to giggle at her friend's histrionics.Hadleigh took in her friend's trim figure with a mock glower. "Laugh if you want, Becca Jean Stuart, but one of these days, you'll be pregnant and craving all kinds of things you can't have, and we'll be the ones rubbing it in.""Yeah," Melody agreed staunchly, making another grab for the bag.For all the joking around, a whisper of sadness brushed Bex's soul.If Will, Hadleigh's older brother and the love of Bex's life, had made it home from Afghanistan, everything would be so different. She'd loved Will Stevens so much.Maybe the phrase, "better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all," was poignant, but it really didn't offer much comfort in reflective moments like this one.Tough up, woman, Bex told herself. Then, after a beat or two, when she could trust her voice again, she went on. "Once you two get a handle on dessert, what's on the menu for lunch?" she teased. "I heard a rumor that we were going to eat an actual meal, and I could use some sustenance here."Hadleigh closed the bakery bag and rolled it shut with a little sigh of resignation. "I made spinach lasagna," she answered. "Garlic bread, too. The guys will be here soon, so maybe we ought to fill our plates before they get back with the boys.""Boys?" Bex asked cautiously. Guys usually meant Tripp and Spence. Boys implied someone else."Tate and his sons," Hadleigh explained airily. It figured, Bex thought, unsurprised. She was going to have to deal with Tate Calder twice in one day? Just one more indication that God had a sense of humor.Cosmic complaints department? This is Bex Stuart and I—Please hold for the next available operator. Your call is very important to us…There she was. Again.Tate had spotted Becca right away, back at the park. With looks like hers, she would've been hard to miss. She was trim, compact, with the kind of curves that drew a man's eye, even beneath baggy sweatpants and a faded T-shirt. And then there was all that silky hair, trying to fight its way out of a crooked ponytail. At the time, he'd hesitated to say anything because he was rusty, to say the least, when it came to the whole man-woman interaction thing. Out of practice. This particular woman stirred him, deep down, in ways he couldn't quite explain, rational thinker that he was. She made him want to take chances again, live for himself as well as his children. But what if he fell for Becca—Bex, as the others called her—and his young sons got their hopes up, let down their guard, started to believe they might have a mother again, only to see the whole thing crash and burn? Would there be survivors? He had no choice but to be philosophical.Like it or not—Tate both did and didn't like it—he and Bex were face-to-face again. The boys had both scrambled out of the truck the minute he pulled to a stop. He was grateful that they enjoyed visiting the ranch so much, and were distracted, as always, by the dogs and horses and all that space to run wild in. It meant the kids probably hadn't noticed that their dad had been flash frozen before their very eyes.Tate worked up a smile, acknowledging Tripp and Hadleigh and Melody and Spence's existence with a slight wave of one hand as he approached them. Odd, how, just a moment before, he'd been so focused on Bex that she might've been standing all alone on the ranch house porch. In fact, she might have been the only other human being on the planet.Still, he was nothing if not a left-brained realist, and his attention had slowly widened, after that first weird instant, to include the others. The cognitive dials in his head began to click, registering further details. Construction had started on the new house, for one thing.Tripp and Spence looked like what they were—happily married men. Satisfied men, maybe even a little smug.Their wives, he noted, were downright radiant, the way women tended to be when they were not only cherished by their husbands, but gloriously pregnant, too.And all the time he was formulating these observations, his sons were tearing around the yard with the dogs, overjoyed, high on blue skies and green grass and every blessing in between.Of course, part of this boyish exuberance was for his benefit; Ben and Adam had been actively engaged in a campaign for a furry friend of their own for quite a while now. Although Tate wasn't averse to the idea—he'd always loved animals himself—they lived in a rented house, and the landlord didn't allow pets. So for the time being, anyway, adopting a critter was out of the question. In the meanwhile, Muggles and Ridley filled the canine-companion bill.Tate shifted mental gears, centering himself in the now. It was a beautiful afternoon, Ben and Adam were healthy, balanced kids and they were having fun.Plus, they had a decent meal to look forward to. Tate's version of Saturday lunch was usually something along the lines of canned tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. He had the feeling that they'd get something a little more appealing from Hadleigh Galloway.Inevitably, since Tate was flesh and blood, reasonably young and completely normal, his gaze strayed back to Bex. Ms. Stuart had looked two notches above terrific in her jogging clothes. Now, in a pair of well-cut jeans and a red sweater that showed off her feminine figure, she was downright distracting.Just a few yards from the casual gathering on the porch, Tate almost froze again—so much for getting centered—but an amused, all-too-knowing glance from Tripp kept him moving forward."Hello again," he heard himself say, his voice suddenly husky.Damned if the Galloways and Hogans hadn't evaporated once more, leaving him and Bex alone on the planet. He gravitated toward her, like a passing asteroid yanked into the orbit of some strange new sun, and then—then he literally collided with the woman, for God's sake, right there at the top of the porch steps. What the hell? he thought, but what he said was, "Sorry. I was thinking about the boys."Fool.Flustered, Tate looked back over one shoulder, trying to lend some credence to his fib, and saw no sign of the kids or the dogs.Bex pointed in the direction of the barn and said, "They went thataway."He gave a muffled laugh, realized he'd gripped Bex's shoulders at some point, and that he was still holding her, as though he'd expected her to fall. He let go."Thanks."After that brief expansion, the universe zoomed in again, with a swiftness that left Tate's head spinning. She smiled, which only increased the sensation, and her voice seemed far away. "Good luck catching up with them, though. All parties were moving fast. They could be in Canada by now."Tate struggled to regain his equilibrium. "That's a definite possibility," he agreed. "They're both a little hyper."This was a routine, even mundane, conversation. So why did everything seem so awkward?

Shaw I think overall this book was a fairly decent read. It wasn't my favorite of Miller's Brides of Bliss County series but for the most part I thought this book was a likable read. The trait that I loved most about this book was Miller's writing style. Like other books I have read by the author her writing style stands out in a crowded industry. I would certainly consider the author to be one of the best writer's of the modern day world and I will always be a fan. However I think that with this book there was nothing special about it. It read exactly the same way as the previous books of the series. The romance was slightly dull for me and that was disappointing. As for the chemistry there was nothing extremely sexy about the attraction between Bex and Tate. I was really expecting something a little more hotter since it is after all a western-romance.Another fault regarding the story I thought that the plot was a bit worn out. I would love to see the author return to her earlier roots as a writer and pen something that is not so typical. I love a western-romance novel, but when the plots start to repeat and the characters are the same as other characters in separate books I believe it is time for something a little more interesting. This book was a miss for me. It didn't thrill me the way I was hoping. I loved the writing. While characters, the romance and the plot all need mending. At the same time I have been reading from Miller since I was in junior high and that is never going to change. I just hope that the next series that the author does publish is a little different because this series is one that I doubt I will be finishing.

10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful romance! By lep I received a complimentary book from Net Galley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book of this series that I have read. There are two other books, but I truthfully was able to understand everything without having read the first two books. The idea of this series is that three friends made a marriage pact. I am not exactly sure of the specifics if there are any, but I do not think that matters much. This is what I consider to be a true romance because the entire book is about Bex Stuart and Tate Calder falling in love and getting together.I am frankly crazy about Tate! He is kind, generous, a great father and he is even rich. Although he gave up the corporate life when his first wife died because he realized that he had spent too much time away from his family. He spends his day building his dream house and taking care of his kids. He plans to start a business with horses so he includes all of those needs in his new home he is building. He even is more-than-willing to take care of Becca's nephew when she takes care of him for a while after his parents separate.Becca is smart, generous and ambitious. She owns her own fitness center and is working on expanding it. She offers to take care of her nephew for her sister while she works things out with her husband. Becca is a very strong and independent woman whose only problem is that she has not gotten over her first love who died many years ago.Linda Lael Miller is a very prolific and popular writer. She writes like a professional writer and uses words and phrases that allow us to feel what each character is feeling. Even though the story has no major conflict, it is an easy read that appeals to the romance in all of our hearts.I especially like this book because I think a lot of the events parallel what goes on in the world today. A lot of women are working while the husband stays home and takes care of the children. Also, Tate is a very sensitive, loving father and husband who does not feel inferior to his hardworking wife. In fact, he is very supportive of everything she says and does even if he totally doesn't agree with her.I would suggest this book to the romantic reader who doesn't like graphic sex or violence, just pure romance.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. This book like the other two in this series is cute with ... By Wootz1953 I don't know why LLM has changed her writing style. This book like the other two in this series is cute with kids and dogs but boring when it comes to romance and the depth of characters. It was the same with the Parable Montana series. I have to make myself finish the books. No romance except two sentences. You will miss it if you read too fast. I sure hope LLM goes back to her great romance and stories that she wrote all these years before the Parable Montana series and this Wyoming series. She even is now using the same name for characters as in her previous books. Tate in this book was the same name of the great book Tate she wrote in the Mckettricks of Texas. Now that was a great series. If you think this book was that good you havent read LLM past books. This was like reading the teenage Harlequin books we read in high school.

Totalmente recomendada y felicidades eres genial mi Noa!

Revisit book one in JT Ellison's heart-racing, fan-favorite Taylor Jackson series!

When a local girl falls prey to a sadistic serial killer, Nashville homicide lieutenant Taylor Jackson and her lover, FBI profiler Dr. John Baldwin, find themselves in a joint investigation pursuing a vicious murderer. The Southern Strangler is slaughtering his way through the Southeast, leaving a gruesome memento at each crime scene—the prior victim's severed hand.

Ambitious TV reporter Whitney Connolly is certain the Southern Strangler is her ticket out of Nashville; she's got a scoop that could break the case. She has no idea how close to this story she really is—or what it will cost her.

As the killer spirals out of control, everyone involved must face a horrible truth—that the purest evil is born of private lies.

All the Pretty Girls (Taylor Jackson), by J.T. Ellison

From Publishers Weekly In this tame debut, the body of a young girl discovered by the side of a Nashville highway puts homicide detective Taylor Jackson and her lowdown boyfriend, FBI Agent John Baldwin, on the trail of the Southern Strangler, a playful, brutal killer who likes to carry his victims across state lines before murdering them and removing their hands. Before long, however, Taylor's reassigned to the suspicious death of a prominent TV personality, leaving John struggling to keep ahead of the Strangler's mounting body count. Meanwhile, Taylor is still recovering from a near-fatal neck injury earned in her last case and worrying over her own demons—not the least of which is John's threat to marry her. The real victim is Ellison's plot, strangled by slow pacing, egregious subplots (a serial rapist, a crooked officer, a pregnancy scare) and a clichéd cast of characters: the shady Southern belle, the veteran detective pushed over the edge, the evil genius who stays a step ahead of everyone—even the appealing Taylor strikes a numbingly familiar tough-yet-vulnerable pose. Though a climactic showdown injects some much-needed excitement, readers may have a hard time getting there. (Nov.) Copyright © Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc. Outstanding first novel By Amazon Customer First novels seem to fall into two categories--they're either outrageously bad, full of rookie mistakes, or surprisingly good, well-written, well-conceived, well- executed tales that create favorable attention for their authors. Books that fall into the first category are extremely tough reads, books that you keep hoping will get better but never do. Books that fall into the second category are distinct pleasures to read, if only because you feel so good for their authors. All The Pretty Girls falls solidly into the second category. A suspenseful tale of an urgent police investigation into several murders committed by a depraved serial killer (who leaves the hands of his/her previous victim with the handless corpse of his latest victim), it will keep most readers engrossed for several pleasurable hours. Ellison, whose writing is remarkably accomplished for a first time novelist, does a terrific job of getting into her characters' heads, creating a sense of immediacy that is as impressive as it is engrossing. Although the book's final twist is not the outrageous surprise that Ellison no doubt intended, it still provides a highly satisfying climax to an outstanding first novel. Highly recommended.

Ellison's ALL THE PRETTY GIRLS was a remarkable debut novel. The characters were real, the voice was clear, and the 'bad guy' wasn't obvious. The book was engrossing to read and required no suspension of disbelief. While Ms. Ellison may not be in the MWA's Grand Master category yet, she's a fine writer who's produced a first-class book that's well worth your time and money. Mine was well spent on both accounts. I'm now looking forward to the next installment in the series: 14. You should too.

JT Ellison has a good feel for Nashville and populates the city with fascinating characters. Her protagonists are honest, decent people who put their lives on the line because they believe in what they are doing. The snapshot moments we have with the victims make us agonize over their perils and bemoan their deaths, but even the bad guys have their own sad appeal. Ellison juggles sub-plots like a much more experienced writer - her parallel stories create delicious tension. And I found the ending touching and heart-breaking . . . after my heart stopped pounding! It's a book rich in detail and character, humor and tension, warmth and chills. I can't wait for Taylor Jackson's next case!

To often we pretend we are perfect and won't share our battles and struggles with even those closest to us! Terry was able to share her battles vulnerably, but also in a powerful way! She was able to show how God can use our worst trials and tribulations and turn them into good for His glory! If you are questioning what you might going through right now, Terry's book will give the hope and encouragement you need!

The struggles in life are relieved by her strong faith and she gives us a message of hope, patience and trust in God.

By Stephen Chilcote I was searching for one of my Dad's books on Amazon when I came across this book listed under the same last name. I enjoyed reading the book, and how Terry and her family persevered through illness, financial difficulties and many other trials. The use of Scripture in each chapter was unique, and added to her story and especially how important God is in her life. Reading this book was a different experience for me as well, because it helped me to better understand how a woman of faith relates to her own children, parents, and friends.

When I received my first four False Truth books from a book club I enjoyed them but was alway wanting more. Now that I have purchased the rest and finished the series I absolutely loved it. Jordan, the main character, has her heart in the right place just not always her common sense or best judgement.Ms. Capri tied the story line together so well that once I started a book I finished it before I put it down and could not wait to start the next one.I hope she continues with this character and her wacky escapades.

I enjoy Diane Capri's method of writing. Interesting, a mystery to the end and believe able characters. A type of book you hate to put down once you have started reading. This is the second book I have read of Diane's and I am now a fan of hers for women sleuths and mystery thrillers. Try this book to see if you agree with me.

Love Released: Women of Courage, Episode Three, by Geri Foster

About the Author As long as she can remember, Geri Foster has been a lover of reading and the written words. In the seventh grade she wore out two library cards and had read every book in her age area of the library. After raising a family and saying good-bye to the corporate world, she tried her hand at writing. Action, intrigue, danger and sultry romance drew her like a magnet. That’s why she has no choice but to write action-romance suspense. While she reads every genre under the sun, she’s always been drawn to guns, bombs and fighting men. Secrecy and suspense move her to write edgy stories about daring and honorable heroes who manage against all odds to end up with their one true love. 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. THIS IS NOT A SERIES............IT IS ONE BOOK DIVIDED INTO 5 SECTIONS By Janet Although the author writes quite well, I cannot honestly give her 5 stars because of thedeceitful way she sells this book. It is ONE book divided into FIVE sections, and eachbook starts off as a new chapter or section, taking up where the last book left off. It wouldhave been okay if she had sold each section more reasonably. To read the entire book youhave to end up paying $15.96 on Kindle. Thus, any admiration I gained for her writing abilities,I ended up losing admiration in how she is marketing this book. I will not read anything elseshe has written because of the way this story was sold.

8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. No more Geri Foster! By P. Brookover It would have been MUCH better if the author had been up-front and actually put all of the books in this series into ONE book. These were NOT individual books but just chapters of 1 book. They end without having any conclusions to any stories in the book! SHAME on you Geri Foster .... you duped me once and I bought all the books in this so-called series but never again will I consider any of your other books! I do have to say that I enjoyed the story but the way you approached this in order to get more money was, in my opinion, underhanded to say the very least!

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Two Stars By Lisa A. Neff I like the series, but each one is only 183 pages long. Not hardly worth the 3.99 each.

Sweet Reunion Justin Barnes left Hope Falls ten years ago, in the dead of night, and didn't think he'd ever set foot there again. That was just fine with him, except for one little exception: Amanda Jacobs. He had fallen in love with her unruly blonde curls and sparkling sapphire eyes, but she had been a teenager then, - too young for him to act on his attraction. When Justin receives a phone call that his former mentor has passed away, he knows he has to return to Hope Falls. Justin just has one question - will the girl that once adored him have grown into a woman that can't stand him? Or will she still be the only thing in the world that feels like home? Sweet Harmonies When Karina Black hit it big in music, she didn’t think it would mean giving up her name, her friends, her family, and the music that she loved. It was time for change and that’s just what the sexy, sassy Native American was looking for when she decided to move back home to Hope Falls. What she wasn’t looking for was love… When Ryan Perkins moved to Hope Falls, he knew that it would mean helping his granny run her café and maybe allowing himself the time to indulge in his love for music. Beyond that, the rugged, sculpted charmer didn’t expect anything more than the simplicity that the quiet community offered. What he didn’t know was that Hope Falls offered much more than simplicity… Will Karina really be able to give up her pop star life and fight for the music she wants while also opening her heart to the sweet melody of love? Will Ryan be able to live in Karina’s not so simple world? Or will they both stop the noise around them and make Sweet Harmonies of their own together? Sweet Victory Samantha Holt has spent her entire life focused on her career as an Olympic snowboarder - to the point that she's never even had a boyfriend. Now the auburn-haired beauty has taken an early retirement to focus on her personal life, which is about to get a lot more interesting when a sexy man from her past comes to town. Can she trust him enough to be her first? Luke Reynolds has moved back to the Sierra Nevadas to be closer to his family. A big bonus is the chance to finally be close to Samantha Holt, the girl he's been interested in for the entire ten years he's known her. Their snowboarding careers have put them in close proximity before, but Sam seems to have walls up when it comes to him. The bright blue eyes and sexy scruffiness that melt other womens' hearts seem to have no effect on her. Will Luke be able to show her that it's safe to let her guard down? Home Sweet Home Lauren Harrison didn’t have time for games. Everything in its place. Everything in its order. Everything in its time. But the gorgeous, high-powered real estate agent was about to find out that when it comes to love, there were some things she couldn’t control. Nothing in life comes easy. Ben Stevens knew this to be true from an early age. The handsome host of a successful real estate reality show knew all too well that he had what he had because he worked hard for it. His charming demeanor radiated from the screen, but behind the camera, he kept his real life out of the spotlight. After becoming co-hosts for a new real estate reality show, Lauren and Ben will both find out that sometimes there is more to someone than meets eye. Will Lauren be able to see the side of Ben that lives behind the camera? Will Ben get to see what’s underneath Lauren’s polished shell? Only time will tell if they can both find a home of their own within each other’s hearts. One Sweet Day - Novella The honor of your presence is requested at the wedding of Amanda Jacobs and Justin Barnes. Catch up with the "Fabulous Four" as all the girls come together to celebrate Amanda & Justin's big day! For Adults 18+

Brosnan-Watters This would have been a very good read, but every so often the explicit sexual content was dropped in like a ton of bricks, and it served no purpose. Love is enough without explaining all those body parts to us. Melanie - do yourself a favor, and drop the sex. Your story can stand on its own.
