Alana is a great story-reminiscent of Gone with the Wind, which is my all time favorite book-but has a life all its own. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a great story, wonderful romance (with some PG moments), twists & turns, tragedy-you name it-Alana has it all.Sexy, swashbuckling escape--Lisa Higgins  A sweeping story of a woman rising in a man's world in the post civil-war era. I lost three glorious hours sinking into this novel!

I do hope there is a sequel coming? That said I hope that if you want to read wonderfully written you ignore some of the many typos that I saw. If I can see them then everyone can. The story moved me and I am very glad that to say I read it entirely in just under 5 hours it kept my attention and the longing to feel and survive as Alana, Race and Elizabeth, I will leave the mystery of Elizabeth for a teaser in this story. Needless to say well done Monica Barrie and I thank you for making me feel so for all of the characters and story!!!!mjm

It was certainly was not run of the mill! I prefer readings with less violence. I don't mind some sexual content, but this was too sexually explicit for me personally! I especially dislike any kind of rape scene! I sadly know that rape happens everyday, but I don't like to read about it. I will decide later whether I will read any more novels by this author. I will say she is a very good novelist, I just prefer cleaner books. ..........I finished this book last night. I was also very disappointed that Rafe did not even talk to Alana immediately after she risk her life to save him. He was being very selfish. Yes, they got back together, but she was too good for him! A shame Edward died!

Good story, poorly written By Avid reader This could have been a great book if the author had not spent so much time and effort on the sex scenes that didn't add all that much to the story. The sex could have been addressed but not been so explicit. Also, there were many typos and the author had the habit of inserting dashes where commas should be and placing commas in odd places. The author's bio states she is a multipublished author. That is hard to believe given the amount of mistakes in spelling, punctuation and sentence formation. Some words were transposed and garbled. This book was obviously not proof-read. There were sentences that appeared as though the author changed her mind in midsentence but failed to take out the words she chose not to use. The plot and storyline were really good but did not make for a smooth read with all the distractions. It is such a waste that the author apparently did a lot of research and yet wrote the book so poorly. I will not read anymore of her books as I am sure it will be more of the same and will certainly not recommend them to my friends.

We all know that there are universal, indisputable laws, as in the law of gravity. If you are to believe this author, there is also a law of attraction, in that thinking positive brings positive and vice versa. He makes a good argument by using his life events as an example. I, too, believe that we all have an inner voice that we should open up to and follow.Mr. Griffin states that society and its rules have led to negativity in our lives, leading us away from that inner voice, creating depression and limitations on ourselves. It’s a believable argument as looking back, I can see examples in my own life. I agree wholeheartedly with his assessment that we should begin and end each day with a moment of gratitude, drawing that positive energy, and rejecting negative thoughts.

It will trigger your emotions, but also makes you relate to the author. With respect to the law of attraction, I also wrote a book on this and discussed exactly the same concepts, but Kenneth actually uses his own life's experiences to show you as the reader how using the law of attraction by default, by emergency, or with negativity will cause more of that negativity. As he moves through his life, you can see how as he changes his thought process to a more positive thought process and really focused on those positive results, he received positive results and achieved his goals.Kenneth teaches you by using his experiences to show you how to apply the law of attraction and in his honest, straight forward and very gripping story, he is able to let you step into his world. He is courageous, brave, noble, and definitely makes a profound impact on the reader in his book. There is no smoke and mirrors, no fluff, hype, just simply a real world application of how someone can go from using the law of attraction by default or emergency or negatively, to changing his life completely around in a very short time once actively working with the law of attraction. I love this book and highly recommend this book for anyone who is struggling in their lives and wants to make serious changes. If you don't know how, read this book. Unlike most authors, Kenneth will actually talk to you and share with you how to make important changes by using the law of attraction. A MUST HAVE in your library.

Numerous contemporary theologians depict divine glory as overwhelming to or competitive with human agency. In effect, this makes humanity a threat to God's glory, and causes God's glory to remain opaque to human enquiry and foreign to human life.

Karl Barth and Hans Urs von Balthasar have avoided this tendency, instead depicting God's glory as enabling people to participate in glorifying God. Nevertheless both accounts fall short of their initial promise by giving one-dimensional accounts of human obedience to God within largely conventional divine command accounts of ethics. The form of human obedience they present as compatible with divine glory does not actively overwhelm the human, but rather brackets out her agency as inappropriate in the face of divine revelation or command. And so, ironically, on these accounts God's glory remains opaque to human enquiry and foreign to human life.

This study builds a case for seeing divine glory as intrinsically relational, creating a sociality which allows for a human agency transfigured by God's glory. Moving beyond Barth and von Balthasar, this work turns to theological exegesis of Scripture to construct an alternative account of divine glory. This glory is worked out in the act of glorifying: first in God, then in divine glorifying of humans, creating a responsive human glorifying of God; and finally in processes of honouring or glorifying among humans. Divine glory is shown to be consistent with a responsive and creative human obedience to God, and shown to constitute human agency which is creaturely and dependent yet not overwhelmed.

This is an extraordinarily rich, hermeneutically generous account of God's glory and its relation to theological anthropology. Fout provides compelling but also critical readings of Barth and von Balthasar before returning to a deeply theological reading of the Christian scriptures themselves. In doing so he not only presents a profound vision of God's glory and human agency but also models how the theological interpretation of Scripture needn't be just another theological genre but ought to make substantive contributions to key, ongoing questions in systematic and constructive theology.Here's hoping Bloomsbury brings out a more affordable paperback of this important work soon!

Had me laughing and yes, bawling like a baby at one particular part, which I won't mention so as not to give it away. It was everything you could hope for in a book like this. Once again we visit the town of Dawson, Montana, where we've gotten to know the people quite well. I loved Ivy, who was young, beautiful and quite intelligent in her own way. She was dyslexic and had trouble reading and writing and her speech wasn't what you'd call refined. Tom, on the other hand, came from Virginia, had wealthy parents and was considered high society, the exact opposite of Ivy. In spite of how different they are, Tom finds her appealing and wants her in the worst way. Her lack of social skills doesn't bother him in the least. He's quite taken with the girl who can call a bird to her and have it perch on her shoulder without any fear on its part. He's amazed at her hunting skills when she goes along with their Lakota friends. He even starts going barefoot like Ivy, something she much prefers over wearing shoes. She's sweet and kind and makes him feel things he's never felt for anyone before. But not everyone is happy about Tom's choice for a bride and before it's all over their love will be greatly tested. This book had humor, danger and suspense, romance, sorrow, just about anything you could ask for. If you haven't read the series I'd recommend you start with book one and work your way to the end. Prepare to be highly entertained when you do! Can't wait until the next book!

Fantastic By Ruby Slippers Each story is better than the last one and I love hoe each book tells a bit about the stories before so one knows what is happening and why. At first I thought there would be no problem for Tom and the strange beautiful woman he fell in love with, it all seemed to perfect.I should have realized somewhere there would be a problem, it made me cry to know his parents were so cruel and tried to break them up. I went through that myself and wasn't as fortunate to have things settled in weeks, our breakup was 8 years! Now we just celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary, so we know we were meant to be together!I'm hoping that there will be another book telling us about all the new babies that will be born. About JR and DJ finally getting married too. To bad Matt's daughter isn't old enough for DJ, that would be nice.Anyway I loved the book and look forward to the next one. Thank you for keeping me entertained.

So innocent to the ways of the world yet so wise in the ways of nature and life. She is the perfect foil to Tom. We visit other beloved characters Hawk and Lucy, Claire and Marcus, Rick and Gina, Sadie, DJ, and Rj show another side of themselves. Roscoe.... Such an amazing town and the speed this author writes such quality stories that have you laughing and crying, truly investing in the characters is just unheard of for those of us that read copiously. Averaging a book a month! If you haven't read her entire series please do, she is an exceptional writer and her books are so very well written and affordable for those that read a lot and have a budget. :)

By Ana Maria Rivera Casco On my ever growing list of hot-young-panty-dropping-gorgeous-looking-billionaires, Tristan Blackwell ranks on the top spots without a doubt. I am a sucker for the old recipe of bad boy trying to make it work again after he messed it up.So why the four star rating?...ummm basically because, first I would haved like the hot and cold relationship between him and our leading female character Noelle to last a bit longer than a week before they made it to bed again. I don't know, a girls got to play it a bit and make it hard for him, especially if she's as mad and upset as he left her the first time they met. And in my opinion Tristan has all the right qualities to make her sweat it a bit with some old fashion teasing.Then I had issues with Noelle, she's naive and sweet one minute but then wants to kick his balls the next, a little too bi-polar for my feminine taste. She needs to get her story straight and focus....But anyway it's just book #1 of yet another series and the cliffhanger actually made me want to follow along Tristan and Noelle's story for a little longer.... so we are just going to have to wait and see....

Good first in series By Deborah I've been in a mini reading slump lately so when I noticed this book it seemed perfect, it's short (a plus at the moment since I'm struggling to get into anything longer) the reviews are all good/great and all 3 parts are out and either free (this book) or available on kindle unlimited, so I'm good to go and with finger crossed I started reading.Noelle Travis wants one hot night with a stranger, it's been over a year since her ex Ryan left and took her sexual confidence with him, claiming he wanted someone more exciting. So dressed up, courtesy of her best friend Larene, Noelle finds herself at Valoir the exclusive nightclub catering to the rich and beautiful and this is where she's swept off her feet by the amazingly good looking Tristan, who it turns out is Tristan Blackwell, billionaire heir and of course playboy (isn't it always the case) while the sex is everything Noelle wanted and needed Tristan treats her like a cheap whore afterwards and so she's learnt her lesson, one night stands are not for her, thank god she'll never see him again....I enjoyed this book, it went more or less as expected with a slight cliffhanger which wasn't so much a surprise as interesting, there's also more to Tristan than I initially thought so it's straight on to the next book for me.

An Insightful Guide to Spiritual Maturity By Dana Rongione When I first began reading Beyond Belief, I questioned whether the book would have any new information for me. Having been saved for over 30 years now, I doubted that the book would benefit me much, though that’s not to say that I wasn’t looking forward to reading it. As I read through the first couple of chapters, I felt that the guide was definitely geared toward the new Christian, not for one who had been saved for three decades. However, as I dug further into the book, I realized that there was a lot more “meat” contained within its pages than I initially thought. And by the end of the book, I found myself digesting new material and chewing on some things that I already knew but needed to be reminded of.Though the book itself is not long, it is divided up into a six-week study with each week containing five lessons. Again, the lessons are short, but Abby has taken a lot of time and effort in providing various Scripture readings to accompany each one. These verses drive home the point of the day’s lesson, in addition to giving the reader more information to meditate on throughout the day. Some of the chapters even include personal stories or anecdotes to help drive the message home, and I found myself laughing or crying as I related to some of the stories.Overall, the book was an enjoyable read and a valuable tool. I highly recommend it for Christians–young and old alike. Whether just beginning the believer’s walk or having followed Christ for many years, readers are sure to gain spiritual insights from this well-written guide to maturing in the faith.

I've been a Christian for twenty years and was seeking something that would not only provide structure during my time with God--which Abby Kelly's study provides--but a new and fresh dimensionto my relationship with Jesus. God answered my desires through this wonderful book that I also used as a journal. Thankfully,interacting with Beyond Belief: Jesus Saved You...Now What? coincided with some challenging emotional hurdles in my life, through which I have become more grounded in God's love, experiencing how much of an anchor His Spirit is inside of me.I ear-marked several parts of the study for future reference, but the most powerful take-away for me at this time in mylife was in Week 3, Day 5, receiving more tangibly God's "matchless, unbroken companionship." The wholestudy could be said to inspire this unbroken companionship between God and His child, and to minister to feelings of disappointment and loneliness. The Spirit-led progression of the study prepared my heart and mind to experience a more satisfying fellowship with Jesus and the joy that I felt when I noticed His help, input, and presence more often.Objectively, Abby Kelly's theology is solid. As a Christian who details a few stories of her own, she is aware of the pitfallsthat Christians can easily fall into--and then uses the correct application of scripture to edify and encourage. Additionally,her writing voice is loving, gentle, yet precise, and at times, humorous. At the end, I was thinking of who I might pass the bookonto, but then remembered the personal notes throughout, and was kind of glad that I will have it to refer back to. The study pointed meto love, and how everything I think I might do for God is worthless if not done out of love. Highly recommend.

However, I felt rushed as I was reading it as though the author wanted to cram as much as possible in the smallest number of pages possible. I do wish the author had allowed the story to unfold, rather than continuously give us pointers along the way. I did enjoy some of the realism of the characters and the challenging situations they created for the hero and heroine.

Mrs. Hopkins did an outstanding job of creating real life characters with real life issues. As a native Houstonian, I was proud to have the bulk of the activities in the book take place in my fair city. I love a happy ending and was extremely pleased with the story-line. The author kept me turning the pages in order to see what transpired next because the book was so engaging. I can't WAIT to read the next book in the Riverwood Series!!! I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading "a good book" with a Godly message. The author incorporated numerous Scriptures into the story, which were quite effective. I have thoroughly enjoyed ALL of Mrs. Hopkins' s books and I think she is an AWESOME storyteller!!!

Moore is a University of Illinois graduate and a doctoral candidate in the Department of Education Policy, Organization and Leadership at the College of Education at Illinois. He thrives on mentorship, both receiving it and offering it, and the elegantly written “My Tweets to You” captures that mentality. In short, it’s no surprise that the author’s notion to write a book filled with more than 1,200 inspiring and supportive tweets came to fruition.The gist of this book is summed up beautifully by Laurie June Samuels, an attorney in Chicago who wrote the Foreword: “‘My Tweets to You’” stretches the reader beyond the shallow surfaces of life and to a deeper place discovered by the author. He delves deep into the beauties of life, love, and success, while exploring their accompanying complexities.”The astounding number of tweets by Moore contained in the book is both impressive and a bit overwhelming. I find “My Tweets to You” to be most advantageous when absorbing the thoughts on a daily or weekly basis, reading a page or two at a time to better soak in the reflections.Moore’s tweets run the gamut of life’s thoughts and happenings, but what stands out is the author’s confidence that doesn’t spill over into preachiness. Some of his words are packed with incisive advice (“Who you were yesterday should be different from who you are today.”), while at times he makes simple observations (“Great leaders are burdened with an immense amount of responsibility as they take full ownership of their success & failure.”). Eugene Moore did an excellent job with this book. I have both of his books, and both are extremely helpful in maintaining a positive outlook on everyday life. It's a quick read that I'm sure I'll revisit again and again.

I had never heard of it until I was looking for low calorie recipes. I just wanted some good low calorie recipes that were better than the low calorie frozen food options at the grocery store. I’m more than glad that I came across this book. I certainly can see myself trying this diet for the summer to see if the diet really will help naturally improve my life and well being I think it’s a positive change and something that will be life changing if I am consistent. Overall, I found this useful and I'm looking forward to trying out all of the recipes.

Egolf Father Laux's INTRODUCTION TO THE BIBLE is a very useful, instructive assessment of the Bible, biblical history, and "secular" history of the Ancient Middle East. Father Laux gives readers very good historical background to the Bible, and readers whether they are Catholic or not can benefit from this book.This reviewer disagrees with Father Laux on The Documentary Hypothesis of the Torah or first five books of the Bible. In spite of this fact, this disagreement does not undermine the value of the book. Had Father Laux lived long enough to examine the Dead Sea Scrolls and other recently discovered sources, he may have modfied his views. Father Laux is obviously a partisan of Catholcism and the Catholic Church. Anyone who critisizes him for that is wasting their time. Father Laux was very clear about his religious loyalties. Readers should know this in no way detracts from the value of the book.Father Laux's presentation of other books of the Hebrew Bible or Old Testament is very enlightening. He gives readers the political forces and challenges faced by the Ancient Hebrews, and he explains the religious disputes among different Judean factions. The book gives readers a concise view of Ancient Hebrew social history which in turn gives the reader a better understanding of irate Ancient Hebrew Prophets who railed against social injustice, violations of religious codes, and blatent hypocracy. Father Laux's placing the Prophetic Books and Books of Poetry in proper historical context make reading the Bible easier and with more understanding.One feature of Father Laux's book was his handling of Hebrew poetry such as Job, the Pslams, Proverbs, etc. Father Laux did a masterful job in enlightening readers to this part of the Bible. While this reviewer disagrees with Father Laux's intrepretation of the book titled Canticles of Canticles or Song of Songs, Father Laux's commentary is very good.Father Laux gives readers escellent coverage of the Apocrophy. Readers may know that the Catholic Bible has seven books that are not in most Protestant bibles. These books are Judeth, Tobit or Tobius, Ecclesiasticus not to be confused with Ecclesiastes, Wisdom, and First and Second Maccabees. His explanation of why the Early Church Fathers accepted these books as canonical is clear and understandable. His remarks re St. Jerome (346-420)inclusion of these books in St. Jerome's Vulgate Bible gives readers good reasons of why the Catholic Church includes these books.Father Laux's explanation of the New Testament is just as good as his explanation of the Old Testament. He gives the reader some insight to the use of the Aramaic and Greek languages. He explains the Synoptic problem and offers intelligent solutions. A very valuable part of his explanation of the New Testament is his careful description of the differences of the "Jewish" Christians who originated in Judea and the Gentile Christians who originated outside of Judea. He cites the differences between Jewish traditions and those of the Greeks and Romans. One can follow the Pauline Epistles and other sections of the New Testament easier by referring to Father Laux's book.Father Laux was sure but not arrogant in writing this book. When biblical scholars are not sure or he (Father Laux) is not sure, he is honest enough to admit it. He gives different views and logically explains his own views. Father has placed useful maps in this book to assist readers. He has sections titled Suggestions for Further Study which present thoughtful questions to readers as well as useful bibliogrpahies.Any reader interested in a solid understanding of the Bible would do well to carefully read this book. This reviewer read it because he was impressed with Father Laux's CHURCH HISTORY. Father Laux's INTRODUCTION TO THE BIBLE is a valuable to anyone who wants to know more about the Bible

He also helps advance your studies by giving reference to more study materials. I have all of his books now and can't complain about any of them. I have used them for my daughter's homeschooling as well as my own enrichment.

For me it started out strong giving the five years earlier background on Mallory and Josh. I also found the take on how the author of a bestselling racy series is viewed by family and friends. This plot was a hoot!As for the characters, Josh is totally the stubborn self-made man. The connection with his father is insightful. I know a few men in my life that he could have been patterned after. Not so much the John in Mallory’s books. Mallory is likable though I questioned her choice of a publicity agent! Together they sizzled.That is my only complaint with this story and it’s not so much a complaint as it is a disappointment in publishers within the novella. I hope that writers are not at the mercy of publishers who take liberties regarding writer’s privacy. If so no wonder so many have gone to self-publishing. I guess I will believe this is pure fiction just as Mallory’s books are until I find out differently.One last note, Hope that Josh’s brother, Chuck, finds a woman that will stick with him in the future. I would like to read that story.Net Galley provided a copy.

She left behind the love of her life, Josh Loveless. Now five years later, she's back home. She's hiding from the notoriety. It was leaked that she wrote erotic novels. What's going to happen when she sees Josh again? I loved this second chance at love novel. Mallory is such a sweet woman. She never forgot her first and only love. Secretly she hopes they can rekindle their romance. Josh was deeply hurt when she left, but he didn't try and stop her. He can't forgive her for not choosing him. I wanted him to realize that he was being unreasonable. When they meet again, you can see that the attraction is still there. If only they can get beyond the pain and hurt of the past. Magnolia Bay is such a romantic setting. I enjoy coming back here and catching up with the townspeople. Erika Marks did a great job. I loved the emotional reunion of these lovers. Sabrina Loveless, Josh's mother, with her well intentioned meddling, made me laugh. Forget Me Not is such a romantic and emotional story. I loved the Loveless and Dunn series.
