Not Just Your Wallet By Seth Middlebrook This book is the financial literature equivalent of a diamond, formed by taking a whole lot of research, advice, good sense, and spiritual wisdom then super-compressing it into an attractive, valuable, and rather small package. Redden doesn't overwhelm you with strategies to beat the markets or gag you with the "follow your dreams" fluff that saturate the financial self-help world. Instead he gets to the heart of the matter, which is, concisely, your heart. It is easy to overlook that one can be a poor man whether he makes $20,000 a year or $20,000,000 based on how he perceives his world and his wealth. From thinking like a rich man and giving like a billionaire to the practical steps to get out of debt, Redden gets down to business while staying down to earth.Practical. Approachable. Full of wisdom. Short enough to read in one sitting. Give and Grow Rich is fresh air in a world filled with financial frustration.

My favorite chapter is on the Theology of Money. On my own journey of changing my mind about money, I have discovered that many people in the church think poorly! And the church has a poor theology or no money theology, which Omer showed really is a poor theology. I am excited for the potential of minds changed and hands opening to give as more people read this refreshing book!

Excellent Analysis of the Factors that influence an Abundant Mindset By Peggy Lusk Omer has written an excellent analysis of what we can all do to live life in abundance and become financially free. It really is a mindset, not a defined dollar amount: Without the mindset, we can never achieve financial freedom. And we are all able to develop the mindset that is needed to become wealthy, if we want to.The results of his interviews with multiple men from all socio-economic levels was very enlightening. It allowed him to extract the major factors that describe the thoughts and actions of those who are poor, those who are transitioning between poor and wealthy, and those who are wealthy. These factors can then be used to provide specific actions that anyone can do to change their financial position.I identified with his description of the poor man, since I grew up in that type of family. My Mother, who grew up in a wealthy family, would have had more opportunities to become financially free at a younger age, if she had been able to identify these factors. This book really filled in some gaps for me, by dealing with the issues of mindset. I've always known that most of my major choices about how I have lived my life have been directed by my faith in God and the ability to see the glass half full: This book has made me aware of how important that has been for me.In addition to giving of financial wealth, it is important to give of your time and talents. I was glad that Omer mentioned the importance of that as well. When you share your knowledge and skills with others, it keeps you current and gives you feelings of gratitude for all that you have.
