A Nice Enjoyable Mystery By Cindy's Book Binge received this book for free from Escape With Dollycas Virtual Book Tours in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.The best part of the book for me was the budding romance between Ben and Lindsay. I really enjoyed reading about their awkward start to dating and getting to know each other, parts of that made me actually laugh out loud! The mystery part of the book was okay for me and there were a lot of red herrings. The plot was well written and I liked reading about investigative reporting and the newsroom. Lindsay has so many mishaps and close calls in this book and it was a fast paced plot which kept me interested. I still, in the end, will have to say that the romance part of the book was really the most enjoyable part of the book.

I really enjoyed the Miranda Vaughn series and decided to give this one a whirl. I really appreciate the way Ms. Ashe describes her characters. It is easy to relate to the characters, and you find yourself really pulling for them in the end. This story revolves around a reporter and a lawyer who end up working together to uncover some shady government dealings. Of course they fall in love, but not before hitting a couple roadblocks in their relationship. The plot is fairly complex, but yet easy to follow. I can't wait for book two!!

This is the first in a new series by Ellie Ashe (next to her Miranda Vaughn-series of which I have read Chasing the Dollar).Lindsey Fox is a newspaper reporter. For the last 6 months she has been receiving strange phone calls, she is being followed etc. but unfortunately her colleagues and her editor think she is a drama queen. She has been on one date with lawyer Ben Gillespie and it ended disastrous when she accidentally sprayed him with mace, thinking him to be an attacker.When Lindsey is thrown in a holding cell on a bogus contempt charge Ben is appointed to help her get out of jail. Hence they meet again after months. After Ben sees someone following and chasing Lindsey he saves her and brings her home.I thought it refreshing that Ben is not just a suave, handsome rich lawyer. He has student loans and actually hates his job but hopes to make partner so he can pay off his loans. He is impressed by Lindseys love and passion for her job and decides to help her after they realize her troubles stem from the article she wants to write about the proposed building of a sports stadium.Lindsey and Ben are attracted to each other, but their relationship is only part of this rather intricate story. Intricate in the sense that it revolves about financing, bonds, swaps and contracts and politics. It is not just a fast, easy read. I can normally read a book in a couple of hours but this one took me a lot longer.In conclusion I can say that I enjoyed the book very much and am looking forward to the next in the series. After reading the next Miranda Vaughn of course (Dropping the Dime).
