By Amazon Customer I bought the Kindle edition because it was on sale for $0.99 and it did have a couple of good reviews. I figured for 99 cents if I get a decent idea or two out of the book it would be worth it. Well I was wrong. The book is short, riddled with grammatical errors, and does not deliver on it's promises. The author writes as if English is his second language. A couple of examples: "In this book, we will go understand what calisthenics are"; "So you'll also be able to the hardest calisthenics exercises on the planet in a short- period of time". The author contradicts himself multiple times: "Looking for a instructor will be a breeze now" - wait, aren't you my instructor? "There is a point in every set where the body's growth mechanism is activated: stop before this point" - ok, I can do that. "...doing your training without going over your maximum strength level is NO GOOD." - didn't you just tell me not to? "I recommend that you try to work until you can do 8 to 14 repetitions per set. You can try doing up to 25 repetitions." -make up your mind! The author promises or implies 9 different skill levels of exercises for each body part. Out of 6 different body parts, he offers Levels 1-9 for 2. And for Chest Level 9, he simply states to use varying angles, volumes, and tempos of the Levels 1-8 exercises. Also for Chest and Triceps, he literally has repeats. Meaning Level 3 and Level 5 for Chest are the same exercise! For Legs, Level 1 is Squats using a squat rack with a barbell and weights. That's not exactly "bodyweight" is it? Level 2 is Calf Raises. So he is stating Calf Raises are harder than Squats! In the final chapter, the author finally pulls the rug out from under you! And I quote, "if you want to be fit, strong, and lose body fat, follow a good program" - hold on. I just spent 99 cents on your program. "While I do not have my own program to recommend to you" - Huh???? And he links you to something called "Xtreme Fat Lose Diet (XFLD)". No I did not misspell the word 'Loss' with 'Lose'. It is literally typed that way in the book!

By Jen I am always trying to learn more when it comes to health and fitness. The term “calisthenics” is something I remember my mom talking about a lot in the 1980’s, but I don’t hear it used a lot now. And, honestly, despite hearing the term a lot growing up, I didn’t really know what it meant (I thought it was just a fancy term for “stretching”). So, my mind being the inquisitive thing that it is, I picked this book up during its free period.After reading the book, I now realize the term “calisthenics” is another word for “body weight exercises.” We’ve all heard about those – and they are exercises that everyone is trying these days. So, this piqued my interest even more. This book is an in-depth resource of the reasons why you should do calisthenics and the benefits of it, along with the specific exercises you should do, which are written and illustrated (and sometimes even have a YouTube video to go along with it). And, while I had heard a lot of the terminology before, I hadn’t thought of or seen many people doing some of these exercises before. They are definitely ones I am going to have to try (I did try a few of them, and a big thing I learned was that I’m not as strong as I think I am)! And, thanks to this book, I now have some things to focus on to get me stronger.This book is a really great resource, not just for those interested in calisthenics, but for those merely interested in becoming healthier with exercise and sensible eating. It clearly lays out the amount of sets you should do, how often, and when you should change things up. There is a chapter on diet, which also has some recipes – both of these things are very helpful. There is even a repository of stretches and yoga techniques, clearly described and illustrated. And, there’s a Q&A’s section. This book is a great, useful book for everyone wanting to make themselves stronger AND healthier!

Read this book By Austin As someone who loves to stay fit and healthy, this book was very beneficial to me in my quest to build muscle. Without reading this book, which as the author says is backed by science, you are likely to spin your wheels for a very long time before you start seeing gains. The author stresses to push yourself hard and go to failure, but also to have perfect form. Very important in weightlifting. Overall, I gave this book 5 stars, because it is well researched and is a great guide for those new to calisthenics, as well as has great reminders for experts.
